I woke up abruptly at the sound of the coffeemaker buzzing. It literally felt like a tractor came to life inside my house.
Believe me, it was horrible.
I sat up groggily on the couch pulling my hair away from my face.
"Dad?" I asked tiredly.
It felt so good seeing your father making a mug of coffee when you wake up. It's like a refreshing morning. Of course, that barely happens.
He was in his suit pants which meant that either he just changed and was going out or he just came from outside. In this case, it was the latter.
"Oh, you're awake. Why were you even sleeping on the couch?" He asked taking out a mug from the cabinet.
I looked down at my lap trying to figure out why was I sleeping on the couch.
Because Caden was sleeping in my room.
I looked around trying to figure out if they had already found out or was I out of the radar.
"Dad, where is Mom?" I asked slowly.
I swear, if she went in my room, nothing was going to end up good. I'd probably be grounded for the rest of my life. And no freedom for me. My parents would probably make me stay with Grandma if they find out Caden was in my room.
"I guess, she went in your room." He murmured.
That's when everything stopped. Not really.
"Mom?" I shouted.
I was expecting her to come out of my room in fury but instead, she just came out of her room.
"Why are you shouting, Skylar? You just woke up, for goodness sake." She frowned at me.
I literally blew out a huge sigh of relief. I was thankful that God spared me this time. Now, all I had to do was get in my room before any one of them did.
"I just...just don't go in my room, okay?" I directed it towards my mom.
It was my morning self that made me say that. I wouldn't have said those words elsewise.
"And why is that?" She asked, narrowing her gaze.
I could almost hear the hint of suspicion in her voice. She didn't trust me. Now, what would've happened if she had really gone inside my room?
"I was working late on the biology project, so...things are quite messy in my room. You won't like it." I said with a nod of my head.
