Once Hermione got back from the Christmas holidays I told her all about Cedric and she basically fangirled at everything.

"Can I ask you something?" Hermione burst out after I had finished telling her about Cedric.

"Go ahead."

"Isn't this a bit rushed? I mean, you go to the ball with Draco then swap to Cedric, and in a week you two are dating." Hermione reminded me.

It had crossed my mind that things were moving too quickly between Cedric and I, but it just felt right. When I was with him, I felt like I was meant to be with him and hopefully he felt the same way.

"What's wrong with that? You certainly don't have the same opinion when you're with Viktor do you." I snapped. It annoyed me that she was judging my love life, when hers was pretty similar.

"That's different." Hermione muttered.

"How is different?" I snarled back.

"Because Viktor and I aren't dating." Hermione answered back.

"But you're happy with him. So why can't I be happy with Cedric?"

A few days before the second task Harry Ron Hermione and I were heading to our Defence Against the Dark Arts class to ask Mad-Eye if he would help us figure out what the clue was, since he had helped Harry with the first task.

"Harry, you told me weeks ago you'd figured the egg out weeks ago. The task is two days from now." Hermione complained.

"Really? I had no idea. I suppose Viktor's already figured it out." Harry replied, slightly annoyed with Hermione for complaining yet again. She kept on telling us how we should have looked harder over the holidays.

"I wouldn't know, we don't actually talk about the tournament. Actually we don't really talk at all, Viktors more of a physical being. I just mean he's not particularly... Mostly he watches me study. It's a bit annoying actually. You are trying to figure this egg out aren't you?" Hermione asked, trying to change the topic from Viktor.

"What's that supposed to mean?" Harry snapped.

"I mean these tests are supposed to test you, in the most brutal way they're almost cruel. And um, I'm scared for you. You got by the dragon mostly on nerve, I'm not sure it's going to be enough this time." Hermione admitted.

"Then maybe, instead of complaining about everything you should actually help us figure out this egg." I retorted.

Before Hermione or the others replied a recognisable voice sounded from behind us.

"Hey Potter!"

Harry and I spun around to face Cedric, while Hermione and Ron carried on walking away.

"Cedric!" I called out.

When Cedric reached us, he smiled and then asked the both of us. "How are you both?"

"Spectacular." Harry replied with a smile. Honestly, I was just glad my boyfriend and my brother got along fine.

"Look, I realise I never thanked you properly for tipping me off about those dragons." Cedric started.

"Forget about it. I'm sure you would have done the same for me." Harry replied with a friendly smile and Cedric pulled the two of us to the side of the bridge.

"Exactly. You know the prefects bathroom on the fifth floor?" Harry nodded. "It's not a bad place for a bath. Just take your egg and mull things over in the hot water." Cedric explained.

Harry looked at me with wide eyes, so I urged him to go to the fifth floor straight away. Cedric and I stood watching Harry run across the cold brick bridge and out of sight. Then I turned to face Cedric and began to speak to him.

"How did you know to put it in the bath?" I ask curiously.

"Actually, Mad-Eye Moody told me." Cedric admitted.

"What did the egg do?" I asked Cedric, eager to help him and Harry as much as I could.

"It said a riddle. Come seek us where our voices sound. We cannot sing above the ground. An hour long you'll have to look. To discover what we took." Cedric repeated.

"And you had to put it underwater?" I asked, almost certain that would be the Black Lake.

"Yeah." He confirmed.

"So the Black lake? It must be that they'll take something from each of the champions and hide it in the lake, and you have an hour to look." I thought out loud.

"Merpeople." Cedric muttered. "There are merpeople in the Black Lake, they're probably the people hiding the objects."

"Or defending them." I added.

The night before the task, Cedric and I were sitting in the library trying to find the perfect spell for Cedric to use underwater. Hermione, Ron and Harry were sitting the opposite side of the library,  trying to fully analyse the clue from the egg.

The two of us were sifting through spell books, looking for a way to breathe underwater for at least an hour.

"Got it!" I shouted a bit two loud, making Cedric- who was putting a book back onto one of the shelves- jump. He scrambled over to me and read the words I was pointing at.

"The bubble-head charm." He read, beaming with joy, hugging me tightly from behind. "You are brilliant."

My body numbed at his touch, but that only made me hug him back tighter. I was proud of Cedric doing so well in the first task, and I knew I would still be proud after the next task, but I also felt slightly nervous about the competition. I didn't want Cedric getting hurt, seeing him with his slightly burnt face was enough for me, if anything else happened. I just can't imagine it. I just might die of heartbreak.

"Hate to interrupt, but Professor Snape would like to see you in his office Potter." Mad-Eye stated, interrupting my thoughts.

I pulled away from Cedric, said goodbye then headed to Snape's office.

"You wanted to see me Professor?" I asked as I walked into Snape's office.

"Sit." Snape ordered from beyond his desk, pointing at the chair in front of him. I obeyed him and sat. Snape muttered something, and I didn't realise what he was doing until I spotted his wand in his right hand. My eyes began to feel heavy, and I felt myself falling. Before I knew it, I was out cold.
