"you were right about not taking the best notes but i think i got what i needed thank you Avery"
i could tell he was trying to be playful but his tone gave no help in that, he clearly didn't joke around often but i appreciate the effort.
"yeah sorry about that, i rely on mark in this class"
i said as i laughed but he didn't laugh with me.
he seemed to only grow more serious, and i felt the air between us grow awkward.
i cleared my throat and looked at the papers in his hand. he got the message and handed them over to me, and gave me a small smile turned and walked out the classroom.
what was all that about?
i thought to myself as i made my way to my next class.
i had made it through 3 more periods without seeing Jean or Dean
their parents must just get a kick out of that
i thought to myself as i made my way to the cafe, we all had the same lunch. Which made jack happy, since he had no classes with me.
i made my way into the cafe and scanned the lunch room, i tried to spot one of them. i was looking around when i felt an arm wrap around my shoulder, i looked up to see jack smiling down at me. i clung to his side like a lost puppy as he guided us to our usual table. we were the first ones here so we sat and waited for everyone to show up.
"how was your day, did anyone bother you"
he asked as he took a sip from his water bottle offering it to me after.
i just opened my mouth and leaned my head back knowing he'd do it for me. after i swallowed i look up to see everyone had made it to the table by now, bruce coming to sit on my other side.
"no one bothered little missy but i think she made a new friend"
bruce said as he snatched jacks water taking a big gulp. jack looked to me with a puzzled look.
i just shook my head, there's no need to worry jack, he's very protective especially with new people so he's gonna go all detective on me.
"care to explain?"
he said as he looked to me with his eyebrow cocked.
i wasn't sure what to say but i never lie to him, sometimes stretch the truth but there's no harm in that.
"i just had a little chit chat with one of the new kids, he was in our first period. i told him to have a good year, just being polite"
i said as i played with the bottom of my hair, looking at my split ends. i didn't wanna see the look in his face.
i turned to samantha who was watching with an amused look on her face.
"you hungry? i sure am let's get something to eat"
with that i sprung up from my seat, grabbing samantha and dragged her with me to the lunch line.
we hopped in line and we stood next to each other in silence, it didn't last long.
"spill sweet cheeks"
i turned to see samantha looking at me with her arms crossed and a slight smirk on her face.
i rolled my eyes and started to rock on my heels, i wish everyone would let this go i don't want anything to do with these new kids and they feel the same, there's nothing wrong with being polite.
"i'm not sure what you mean my dear"
i said as i looked up at her through my lashes,
