Chapter 2
Aiden’s POV
The moment I walked into Wrightwood high’s halls, I already figured that this school won’t be so different from the ones I've been to. My dad left when I was young, and my mom, well she worked around a lot, going to business meetings here and there which required us to move often. But this morning she promised that we wouldn’t be moving for a long while though. I seriously hoped so.
It was cool that no one, and by that I meant no girl has tried to push up against me so far. It was a relief. Don’t get me wrong, I do like those skirts and low necklines but honestly, those weren’t my type at all. Call me old fashioned but I prefer girls that give meaning to the phrase simple yet classy. Sluts just don’t do it for me.
The first half of the day went by smoothly. Some guys from my class invited me to stay with them for lunch and hang out. I think the kid’s name was Mason or something. But I told them that maybe I could go some other time, I wanted to check out the campus so I wouldn’t get lost just like I almost did this morning.
I spent most of my lunch break walking through the buildings and floors where my classes were before it happened. I was making my way back to where my locker was to catch some books I think I needed for my next subject when I saw some love nuts all up on each other near some of the lockers. Very mature, I thought inwardly. I took out my books and stuffed them in my bag. Just when I turned my back on my locker I saw this girl dash right past me. She looked really pale, so I decided to follow her and see if she was alright.
She must have noticed me following her once she stopped in her tracks.
“Hey, are you okay? You looked really pale and I thought you might need some help” I said as I waited for her to turn around. The moment she did though, I lost all other senses.
“I'm fine, thanks anyway” she said. Man, her voice sounded like an angel. Not to mention, she looked like a complete doll. Like a baby doll. But not child like, she was pretty. No that’s wrong, she’s beautiful.
“Well, if you need to talk it out I'm all ears” She looked surprised at what I just said which kind of made me regret saying it. Smooth move, Aiden. “I'm Aiden by the way” I said with a smile, “And you are?”
“I'm Elizabeth, but you can call me Lizzie.”
“That’s nice name”
“Thanks. I don’t think I've seen you around before?”
“Oh, I'm new here, me and my mom just moved in last week and today’s my first day” I do hope we stay though, I mentally added.
“Well, Welcome to Wrightwood High. And if you don’t get going, you'll be late for your class” She said with a small grin forming on her perfect lips.
“What about you? Aren't you gonna be late too?” I asked
“I don’t really feel like going. I think I'm just gonna skip the afternoon and wait for my brother to pick me up”
“If that’s the case, then I’ll skip with you” Her eyes widened with what I said.
“You can’t do that, it’s your first day!”
“Yeah well there’s nothing wrong with spending the afternoon with the first girl I've made conversation to, is there?” I can’t help it, she’s too beautiful to actually ignore now. The unsure look on her face doesn’t help either cause she just got cuter.
“I guess not, but I don’t want you to get into any trouble.” She was chewing her lower lip. Get a hold of yourself Aiden!!!
“You won’t, I promise. And don’t worry, I won’t” I added, with a smile.
“Okay then” she finally said. That wasn’t so bad. Only, I have to keep it cool.
“So, where are we going?”
“Well, we could go to the park? It’s just nearby. That is, if you want to?”
“Anywhere’s fine”
With that said, we walked to the park. I would have offered her a ride but my mom dropped me off this morning saying that she’ll pick me up after school so I didn’t have my car with me. She was very silent on the way to the park benches and I was starting to feel clammy and nervous. Hell how’d she manage to do this to me, it’s so unusual.
There were three benches and we picked the middle one and sat together in silence. I was thinking of some topic to remove the awkwardness that was building but she beat me to it.
“Why. How could he just leave and come back here and act like nothing ever happened? It’s not fair.” She whispered.
“I don’t really know anyone yet but if the dude hurt you then he’s a jerk with a dick for a brain. No offense, but most of the time, jerks don’t see what they really have until it’s gone.” What the hell? Where is this coming from?
“His name was Matt. And when he came back yesterday, I almost thought he’d actually come back to me. Instead, I see him with miss fuck-my-brains-out all up on each other.” Oh no, she was going to cry! What do I do? What do I do?!!!!! “I'm sorry, I shouldn’t be telling you all this.” She continued as she started wiping her eyes.
“You mean the couple down the hall a while ago?”
“Yeah, you saw?” she looked at me with those eyes. Those amazingly gorgeous eyes. How could someone look at her and simply decide to hurt her? That Matt guy must need some major rewiring in his brain.
“Yeah I did actually. It was very mature of the, you know? Doing that along the halls was inappropriate. Especially when it’s with a slut”
That’s when she started to giggle. Damn I swear my breath got caught in my throat at the sound of her giggle.
“Did I say something funny?” I asked, confused.
“Nothing, it’s just that you’re a guy, don’t you usually like those types of girls?” she replied, with complete humor in her voice “Sorry, I didn’t mean to make you sound so… bad, it’s just that most of the guys here at school have been in bed with her and it’s very disgusting”
“Don’t worry, I wasn’t offended” I said with a smile, really, I wasn’t. “I do get it though, must be hormones. And I must not be normal because I don’t seem to be getting any of the regular sex crazed feelings. I don’t know. I guess girls like miss ‘fuck-my-brains-out’ just don’t do it for me. I believe in simple but classy women.” I said, dead serious.
“Well, that’s good. At least there are still a few guys who won’t go for trashy” she said as she gave me a smile back.
This girl was really something else.
