Chapter 6: Mistakes

I woke up to Parker's light snores. Parker's one arm lay loosely over my torso. I looked down to see only the covers were covering my body. What had I done. I slowly tried removing Parker's hand from around my torso. He let out a small groan as he pulled my body closer. "Parker." I whispered trying to wake him. "Parker." I said a little louder. He wrinkled his nose and his eyes fluttered open. He smiled as he rubbed his thumb on my cheek. "Good morning princess." He said smiling pulling me in for a kiss. I couldn't help but fall into the trap and gladly accept the kiss. "Parker we can't do this. You know it." I began trying not to make eye contact with him. "Why not? It can be our little secret." Parker replied placing kisses to my collarbone and up to my jaw line. "Your my brothers best friend. This is bound to not work." I said flatly. Parker stopped looking at me. "Your right, what was I thinking." He said angrily getting off the bed. "Parker I didn't mean it like that." I said starting to feel my stomach turn. "It's whatever. I'm going for a run." He said pulling up his shorts and grabbing his headphones. He walked towards the door slamming the door behind him. Great, now Parker was pissed but I was making the right decision right? I rolled my body off of the bed and headed straight for the bathroom. I turned the shower on letting the hot water run down my body. It was the right decision I kept reassuring myself but why did I feel like it wasn't. I turned the shower off getting out and walking into my room to get dressed. As I was walking towards the stairs I heard the door slam. I stopped in my tracks. "And you wonder why I don't see you mom, your boyfriends a piece of shit." He spat angrily into the phone. "I am not coming home if that piece of shit is still there. I'm happy with Toby and Sheridan." He said. There was a long pause. "Fine then. Send the cops after me, I'll tell them how he used you and me as a human punching bag when he came home shit faced. I'm not fighting with you, goodbye." Parker yelled as he hung up the phone. I heard him whip his phone across the room and hit the kitchen wall. "Fuck." He screamed as he sat on the kitchen floor with his head in between his hands. I made my way down the stairs. The last stair creaked and Parker looked up at me. His eyes were puffy and red. He sniffed quickly wiping his tears away. "Parker are you okay?" I asked looking down at him. "I'm fine Sheridan." He spat as he got up and stormed passed me slamming his door behind him. Great now Parker was even more pissed than before.

I stayed in my room for most of the day and watched Netflix or stalked social media. I woke up and turned to the clock. 2:12am. I pushed the covers off of me and headed to the bathroom. I looked over to Parker's room to see it was open and his light was on. I peeked in but he was no where to be found. I tip toed down the stairs to see that the screen door leading to the back was open. I peered out into the yard to see Parker sitting on the steps. I opened the screen and walked out. I could hear Parker sniffing which indicated he was crying like earlier. "Parker." I whispered. His body tensed as he quickly wiped his tears away but didn't turn to face me. "What do you want Sheridan?" He asked looking to the ground. "I wanna make sure your okay." I said sitting next to him. "Well I'm fine thanks." He replied. I took ahold of his hand. "I know your not Parker and it's okay not to be okay." I said resting my head on his shoulder. We sat in silence for a minute until Parker spoke. "Hey listen I'm sorry." He began. "Hey lets not talk about that right now, it's okay." I said wiping a tear from his cheek. I placed a soft kiss to his lips. It felt right. We sat in silence for a few minutes until Parker decided to head inside which I followed. I walked up the stairs behind Parker and headed for my room. "Sheridan." Parker said getting my attention. I turned around and replied "yeah?". "I'm gonna try my best to get you to want us as much as I do." Parker said smiling before walking in his room and closing the door. I couldn't help but smile. I knew it was a bad idea but the bet was on.
