Padawan Lost ~ AU (1st Installment of the Padawan Series)

Chapter 20

I made my way to the back of the droid factory, slipping through their lines of defense that protected the outer walls. I secured the detonators on my back and surveyed the wall and factory, taking my time to analyze all areas that surrounded me.

                The droid factory had a simple yet complex design. One outer wall made of steel was surrounding the actual factory. On the top of the wall was wire, extending several feet upward. The wires were alive, sending electrical currents from point to point. Inside the wall was the factory with several columns of smoke coming from steel smoke stacks. The factory itself was rather large and circular with several droids lining the perimeters. There was no back entrance.

                I took an extension cable off of my belt and aimed it at the metal roofing. I force jumped over the electrical wires and sprang myself towards the end of the cable. Once I was securely on the roof, I looked around to see the droids lining the factory’s siding. They hadn’t seen me. They gripped their blasters tightly and turned their heads; constantly on the lookout for intruders. I smiled at the fact they hadn’t seen me.

                I took out my lightsaber and cut a hole through the roofing.  I used the Force to slide out the cut roofing and put it next to me. I kneeled down and looked through the hole to see if there were any droids nearby. I had cut into the main control room. All I had to do was place the detonators on the rig and make it over the exterior wall before the doomed factory took me down with it. However, I have failed to mention the battalion of battle droids surrounding the rig.

                Even if I made the slightest sound or movement, I would be detected. Luckily, a door towards the head of the factory opened and Master Obi-Wan came in with his lightsaber ignited. All the droid focused their attention on Master Kenobi. He saw me though.

                “Andora!” He yelled and threw me his backpack of detonators. I caught it and opened both backpacks to start placing the bombs.

                As soon as I had all the detonators placed, I helped Master with the droids, but from what it looked like, he had things handled pretty well. Once the rest of the droids were finished we jumped through the hole I made with my lightsaber and used our extra extension cables to lift ourselves over the exterior wall.

                When we were just outside the wall, I pressed a button on my comlink and the bombs detonated, sending the droid factory to bits. However, we weren’t finished. I heard fighting in the front. Master Skywalker must have reached the frontal factory and started the outward assault. Master and I ran around to the front where we saw what I had expected. Master Skywalker was holding his position with Ahsoka and the clones.
