The next thing I knew I was in a small bright room. There was a needle in the back of my hand. My foster parents were sitting in a couple of chairs. Maggie looked worried. A doctor was standing nearby them. Matt asked wither or not they could take me home soon. He was probably worrying about Rachael and Mike, the other kids ages four and ten.

I closed my eyes as the doctor says "No, she hasn't improved. You can't take her home yet."

Soon it was dark and quiet. The sound of the door opening and closing awoke me up. I expected it to be a nurse, but it was a figure dressed in black. He stepped toward me and pulled back his hood. Lucas. He watched me with solemn blue eyes.

I sat part way up and demanded, "What are you doing here?"

"I came to do what the doctors can't, save your life." He said.

"What? Why? How are you...?" I said, startled.

"I am because I endangered it. Never mind how. I just need you to trust me now. You don't need to be afraid." He said.

As he came closer, I tried to sit up more. He sat on the foot of the bed. "Do you trust me?" Lucas asked.

"I don't know. What happened? Why can't the doctors save me? What do you mean you endangered my life?" I demanded, my voice getting higher pitched.

"You are very ill. The doctors can't save you because they don't know how to." He sighed, "Please tell me. Do you trust me?"

"If I say I trust you, what are you going to do?" I asked trying to understand what he was saying.

"I am going to save your life. I don't want you to die."

I took a deep breath and said, "I trust you."

He smiled, "You'll have to do everything I say."

"Okay." I said unsure wither or not I would regret it.

"Lay back," he commanded, pushing gently on my shoulder. When I resisted, he said, "You're going to fall back anyways."

I lay down. He placed his hands over my heart.

"Stay very quiet and hold still." He said.

"Will it hurt?" I asked because he had empathized very.

"No, you wouldn't feel a thing, I promise." Lucas assured me.

Everything started to fade like before. I moaned and tried to move.

"Shh, no, don't move. It's okay." He whispered closer now. Everything faded completely, and I felt like I was floating in a pool of warm water all alone in a black silent room. Then I could see two lights a green one and a red one. They circled and danced around each other. Then they started to merge, the green one turning red. The lights burned brighter as the red one over took the green. It went black.
