You know that there are 40 pin drives, Serial ATA, Parallel ATA and big ass drives like the Quantum Bigfoot. If you tried putting your old laptop drive in a new computer you will notice, how loud the drive is once you plug it in. I tend to have a noise anxiety so I don't normally run them for very long. Most of the times you replace the drive you one will be able to boot the operating system, two your os will give you the blue screen if you are running windows. or three your drive will not connect because of the connectors on the drive being different.
