"About that..." Pushing her plate away she was dying to ask him a question about his proposal. "My parents... Did you speak to them?" She was nervous about the answer, none of them were on good terms to say the least.
They blamed Salvatore for her imprisonment and nobody seemed to be on speaking terms the last time she checked.
"I made the effort to see your father, ask him for his blessing..."
"And he said no..." She finished for him knowingly as he chuckled loudly before stretching his arms above his head.
"Ahhh baby..." Shaking his head recalling the said conversation. "He not only said no, but also warned me if I dared proposed he would end my life and, how did he put it? You will regret uttering any words of marriage to MY daughter and mark my words, you won't make it to the wedding..." Uttering the words he had memorized but not imposing any real threat on his decisions.
"Ok..." Adriana sighed, it was worse than she thought.
"Obviously his threats didn't stop me."
"I need to fix this. I'll speak to him and... I don't know try to get through to him? I can't have my parents unhappy Salvo."
"I know. But our happiness matters too Ade. They need to come to terms with that, if not for me, for you!"
"Don't worry about it..." Standing to her feet she began to gather the breakfast items forcing herself to smile, she wasn't going to deal with this now, not today of all days. "I'll figure it out, let's just enjoy the rest of the day ok?"
"Sounds perfect!" Salvatore responded as his cell phone went off on the dining table. One of the men stationed outside phone number flashing on the screen.
"What is it?" He asked abruptly, he had specified he didn't want any interruptions today.
"Boss... It's your mother she's-"
Salvatore let out a long drawn out breath. He could hear his mother cursing in the background, demanding to be let in to see her son.
"Let her in..." He groaned unhappy about the situation but seeing no other way to stop her. He had told her he would stop by later, but clearly she had other plans!
"My mother is here!" Salvatore announced hanging up his cell phone before looking up at his barely dressed fiancé.
"What!" Dropping the plates into the kitchen sink with the look of horror on her face. She certainly wasn't decent and neither was Salvatore sitting at the table in nothing but underwear. "I need to get dressed!" She shrieked in panic.
"Your robe is just fine, she'll be at the door soon!" Casually standing from his seat he made his way to the bedroom as she practically ran in front of him.
Grabbing a pair of casual sweat pants he laughed watching Adriana attempting to find her dress from the night before unsuccessfully while a loud merciless pounding along with the buzzer sounding simultaneously came from the main doors.
"Baby, fairly certain I tore it..." Laughing cheekily he tugged on her arm to follow, she had plenty of clothes in the walk in robe but watching her squirm in front of his mother was always entertaining.
"But she'll know!" Adriana stated wide eyed as he ushered her towards the entry with him. "The things we've been doing..." She whispered shamefully.
"Baby..." Rolling his eyes while grabbing the door handle all while looking back at her, "you've been gone for months... What else would we possibly be doing?" He stated pulling open the front door.
"Salvo!" Storming through the entry a little slower than usual with bags full on containers of various foods, Giuseppa was unimpressed with the waiting time she had to endure.
