Chapter 8

Irina was silent all the way back to her apartment. She knew she'd break down in tears if she opened her mouth.

Doom took her key and unlocked her door. He then pushed it open, closing it once they were inside.

She sat down on her couch and kicked off her shoes. Finally, it had to come out and as the tears fell down her cheeks she said, "I thought she was my friend. I thought she would want me to be happy. I've known her since we were young and I..."

Doom pulled her close and she cried on his shoulder

When she finally felt calm and her tears had stopped she whispered, "I'm sorry our evening was ruined."

"It was not ruined, at least not by you," he murmured softly. He then pulled her up onto his lap and held her close.

She pushed her nose into his neck, breathing in the smoky scent she was beginning to love.

"You didn't deserve to be spoken to that way, especially not by one you call friend," he continued.

"We grew up together, went to the same school."

"Ah, she knew your husband then?"

"Yes. Mike and Brady sometimes hung around together while Gina and I did "girl" things. Brady is a year older, but he never acted annoyed with us three," she said.

"Mm...he did try to hush her, knowing she was in the wrong."

She sighed and began to run her hand up and down his arm, loving the feel of the silk shirt on her hand. "Gina never did know when to shut up, but this is the first time in a very long time that I've been on the receiving end of it."

"So, this has happened before?"

"Once, after Mike died," she admitted. "I fell into a really deep depression. I stopped eating, sleeping, bathing, get the idea. Anyway, the landlord was about to kick me out on the street, and Gina told me it was time to grow up and at least take a bath. She also informed me that she wasn't going to give me a place to stay if I didn't."

"So, she did it to pull you out of your depression. Did it work?"

"It did. I didn't want to be homeless on top of being alone. So, I got up, bathed, ate, and went job hunting. Gina helped me get on where I'm at now and let me live with her until I had enough to get this apartment," she pulled back to look at him. "That time was helpful, this time it was just hurtful the things she said to me."

He nodded and cupped her cheeks in his hands. He gazed into her eyes but said nothing.

"Doom kiss me," she whispered.

"Are you sure? I don't want to be just something to help you forget."

"You will never be that," she admitted. "I keep trying to pull myself back from you, but it's like there is a string that pulls me right in."

He leaned in and gave her a kiss.

Just like before, it was rough with teeth clashing and lips being bitten.

Just like before, she really like it and moaned in her pleasure.

When his lips left hers, he began to nip and suck his way down her neck and she whimpered. It felt so good and she wanted more!

"Doom, Doom, you make me so crazy," she told him. "You make me want again."

He pulled back then with a sigh, and muttered, "We shouldn't."

She opened her eyes and looked at him sadly. "You don't feel as strongly about me as I do you, do you?"

"Irina, there are things about me...things you don't know, and I can't tell you. Things that would probably make you head the opposite direction of me if you knew," he told her. "I wish it wasn't so, but it is."
