An Old Friend

1.3K 10 5

Ash was in Kalos, with Serena and Bonnie. Everything goes as usual, nothing different. Walking on the path. Until Team Rocket comes.

"Prepare for trouble!" The unmistakenable voice of Jessie rang.

"Make it double!" James' voice rang through as well.

"To protect the world from devestation!"

"To unite all people within our nation!" It was the same old speech from Team Rocket.

"To denounce the the evils of truth and love!"

"To extend the reach to the stars above!"

"Jessie!" Jessie made herself visible, appearing in front of us.

"James!" James appeared uptop the mountain.

"Meowth! That's right!"

"Wait, we're getting ahead of ourselves! Dawn!" Ash's eyes widened.

"DAWN?!" Ash asked, dumbfounded at the discovery.

"Hello Ash." She was now wearing one of the Team Rocket outfits and on her shoulder was Piplup.

"You know her?" Serena asks, eyes looking at me, maybe with a hint of jealousy.

"Of course this idiot does. He should at least... With that mind of his, he should be able to." Dawn replies with an attitude I've never heard from her.

"Don't call Ash an idiot!" Bonnie cries out, angry at Dawn.

"Oh relax Bonnie. I'm not going to cut his head open or something. I'm not going to be like one of those player things in his head that says, 'good job and here, just for the heck of it, take this gym badge.'" Dawn rolled her eyes at the kid, then strolled over to Ash, who didn't flinch.

"What do you mean in his head?" Serena asks, a confused look on her face.

"Wow! You don't get it, do you? Ash Ketchum, the one who wants to be the very best. IT'S ALL A BIG LIE." She poked his chest.

"Everything here isn't real Ash. You're not 10. Pokemon aren't real. Almost everyone here isn't real! I'm just the girl you liked before, when you weren't in this coma. I'm sorry Ash, but being the very best is impossible in the real world." Dawn explained, strolling around, then slowly, everything started to fade. Team Rocket, Bonnie, Serena, Piplup, even Pikachu. The landscape around them also disappeared and they were in a white room.

"What did you do?!" Ash asked Dawn.

"You're mom is waiting Ash. Hurry before you're gone forever..." Dawn walked over to a door on the right side of the room and walked inside of it. Ash wasn't sure. Everything was a lie? He slowly walked over to the door, hand trembling as he opened it, and walked inside.

His eyes opened, to find himself in a hospital room. He blinked for a bit, noticing he was taller, hair longer, and felt as if he wasn't ten years old anymore.

"Delia!" The voice of Professor Oak rang through his ears.

"Pikachu?" He asked weakly, his voice completely different than before.

"Ash? It's me, Professor Oak." He whispered as his mom came rushing in.

"Mom?" Ash asked, then looked around. Dawn was right... Everything was a lie.

"Oh Ash..." Delia managed to say, eyes filled with tears.

"I... Wanted... To... Be... The... Very... Best..." Professor Oak smiled at him, remembering when he was a boy, always saying that.

"I know Ash, I know." Professor Oak replied.

Ash had to slowly understand what was the world now. Professor Oak, Delia, Dawn, and Brock helped him regain himself. Everyone else he knew in the Pokemon world was either traveling, living in a different state, or didn't exist. Ash realized that he was in a coma, to experience his life long dream, to be the very best. After two years, he started a fresh start, where you actually age, can love, and be normal.
