The pain doesn't go away. You just make room for it. - Laurie Holden
Two weeks had passed since Ginny and Blaise's engagement was announced.
Hermione and Draco were sitting in the Great Hall looking at color schemes, flowers, and centerpieces. They still hadn't formally announced their engagement, but everyone thought they had just skipped having a fancy engagement.
'May,' Draco asked.
'Yeah?'
'When do you think we're going to announce our engagement?'
'I was thinking sometime today or tomorrow,' Hermione said honestly.
'Don't you think it's a little early?'
'Early? We've been waiting for two weeks,'
'I've quite enjoyed this time. It was just the two of us that knew. And Blaise,'
'I have too, but... I would like people to know,'
'Why?' he asked, a little ticked.
'I have to go dress shopping at some point, I have to get stuff ready. And I kinda need help with that, but my friends don't know,'
They had now got up and were walking towards their common room.
'Well, I never said you couldn't tell your friends!' he yelled.
'Even now you just said enjoyed the time when very few people knew!'
They had reached their common room and, unbeknownst to them, Harry and Ginny were sneaking out.
'So you just assumed that I wouldn't want anyone to know?'
'Yeah! Wanna know why? Because I figured you wouldn't want your perfect little family figuring out that you're set to marry a Mudblood!'
Draco just looked shocked as he slammed the door to their bedroom closed.
'I don't care if my family finds out! People are going to judge us!'
'You do realize we were paired together because of a marriage law right? We had no control over who we end up with. The only people you're worried about judging us is your family! You don't want them to know that you ruined the bloodline! It's as simple as that. You're scared. You're too scared to tell them.'
Draco shoved her into a wall and raised a hand. Her face was stoic but her eyes betrayed her fear. The look in her eyes softened him. He gently placed his raised hand on her cheek.
'I'm sorry. I'm so, so sorry,' Draco sobbed.
Hermione was shocked. She had never actually seen him cry. 'Draco. It's okay,' she soothed.
'But it's not. I'm becoming my father. He abused my mother for years. He thought me that that was just how things work. As I got older I realized that was complete and utter rubbish, but It's still ingrained in me.'
'Dreki. (Dre-Key) You're not becoming your father. You're already a much better person than he ever will be.'
'But...' he trailed off as she kissed him. Every time he tried to say something she kissed him. Eventually, he calmed down enough for him to ask 'Where did Dreki come from?'
'It means dragon in Icelandic. I think it suits you.'
'I love it,' he whispered.
'I have something to tell you.'
'What?' Draco asked growing concerned.
'Remember that letter I got a while ago? About my parents?'
'Yeah,' he said slowly.
'Well... I wasn't completely honest with you about it.'
'Go on.'
'They didn't when the lottery and then wind up murdered. Right after the war ended some Death Eaters who managed to escape went to Australia and... tortured them. Then killed them.'

How will Draco react? I have no idea so I'm going to figure that out. The next chapter will pick up right where this one left off. I'll put the end of this one on the next one.
What do you think of Dreki? If you have a better way to show how to pronounce it please tell me.
