Was it me, or was it you,
This whole life we've held on too...
Bits and pieces of tattered lies,
Broken dreams and cumbersome cries...
When all along we really knew,
I was not meant to be with you...
Now this life seems lonely and obsolete,
But I'm just not ready to admit defeat...
I gave up all I ever thought I'd have,
To see you smile, to hear you laugh...
One lifetime is all we may get,
To live and love without regret...
And all though it was not meant to be,
I with you, nor you with me...
Our embrace has opened my eyes,
To things more important for me to realize...
Let's not leave this place tonight,
With clouded, delusional sight...
Instead, hold back those tears,
And reminisce with me through the good years...
Let's leave remembering the good there was to share,
Tonight it's just us, no one else to care...
There is still good left here in this heart,
On bad terms I do not wish to part...
Put away the frown that's crossed your face,
And just journey with me to that place...
Remember the one where we first met,
In the summer on the beach, who could forget?
The way the moonlight shown across the sea,
The place where you experienced me...
Alone in this world I do not want to be,
I without you, nor you without me...
