Soulmate - Adachi x Reader

Friends

Tohru would often frequent L/N's favourite places after their first encounter, he wanted to see her as much as possible. Today he 'bumped' into L/N at Junes, L/N just smiled at him.

"Ah! Adachi, fancy seeing you here", she smiled. She looked down at her feet for a second and then looked back up, "Would you mind eating Lunch with me? Only I get lonely when I eat by myself". She turned her head away from Tohru as soon as she spoke.

"I'm fine with that", Tohru smiled at her anyway even though she couldn't see it. "I get lonely to sometimes so this would be a nice change".

L/N swiftly moved her head to face him, a light blush on her face. "Y-You're sure!?".

"Yeah, so how about we get some food?" Tohru replied. He took lead in front of L/N, who followed closely behind him.

The two looked at all the food on display, each picking what took their fancy. Tohru's plate consisted of mainly cheap snacks whilst L/N's only had a light dish.

"Hey, L/N, I can pay for your lunch too if you want, since it doesn't look like you have much" Tohru smiled, taking L/N aback.

"Oh uh... No, it's fine! Really!" waving her free hand in disapproval. "I don't want to cause you any trouble".

"Okay then" Tohru said, turning away from her. This caused L/N to pout.

"You're supposed to say, 'Oh, but I insist' If you're trying to be a gentleman!" L/N stated mockingly. Tohru couldn't help but laugh at this, it was like L/N could see right through his act.

"Oh, I was?" Tohru chuckled, "I'm sorry then, ma'am."

"MA'AM!" L/N exclaimed, "Why are you calling me Ma'am! I'm not that old!" taking a pause for breath she then exclaimed "In fact, you look a lot older than me!"

This caused Tohru to then glare at the woman, "What makes you say that?".

L/N then looked at the floor, avoiding Tohru's gaze. "You just look tired", suddenly the air around their exchange changed.

"Tired?" He replied, tilting his head. He was curious now, did L/N actually care about him?

"Yeah. Every time I see you, you always have dark circles under your eyes..." she sighed, "I'm concerned that you might be working too much, or you have trouble sleeping..."

Tohru sat his plate on the counter in front of him, in awe that someone he'd only met a few days prior held concern for him. "Why would you care about me?" Tohru uttered, turning away from her again.

L/N followed suit and put her plate down and walked over to him placing her hand over his shoulder. "Of course, I care Adachi, I always care about my friends!"

Tohru turned his head to look at her, "Friends...?"

She nodded, smiling at him, "Yeah, you're my friend Adachi! I hope I'm your friend too" lightly blushing again.

Tohru couldn't help but smile, no one had openly admitted that they cared about him before, it gave him a fuzzy feeling. Maybe he might actually belong with L/N?

Tohru suddenly felt a tap on his shoulder followed by a piece of paper touching his cheek. He lifted his hand to take the paper to see a bunch of numbers written down. He turned to face the hand that gave him the paper, seeing L/N smiling at him brightly.

"If you ever feel down, just give me a call and I'll hear you out! Anything for a friend" grinning happily at him.

"Oh... Thank you L/N" He said smiling back.

"Now then, I think it's about time to eat!" L/N exclaimed, taking her plate to find a seat, "Are you coming Adachi?"

"Yeah L/N!"
