Becky was firmly tied to a metal chair. Unless she had superhuman strength, there was no way that she was going to break that chair and free herself.
It took a couple of hours for the sedative we had put in her tea to wear off. However, we were more than willing to wait whatever amount of time.
Finally, she began to moan and lift her head. Within seconds it registered in her brain that she was tied up.
She let out an animal growl and began yanking at the chains wrapped around her wrists and ankles.
The chains clanked violently against the chair.
"It's useless." I said, calmly.
Becky cut her eyes to me, breathing heavily through her nostrils.
"Let me go, you're making a mistake." she said.
"I believe it was you, who made a mistake." I replied.
"Steel will come for you. Just confess to being part of the Freedom Party and perhaps The Panel will be lenient in their punishment for your betrayal to the state."
"That was quite a mouthful, is that how they have trained you?" Elias said.
"Shut up. I have already let D.C. know about you, and when I don't return alive, they will be coming for you."
"So, tell me, whether we let you go or not, they will be coming for us?" Baker asked.
Becky remained quiet.
The three of us looked at each other with brows raised.
"Seems to me that the outcome is the same, so therefore, it doesn't particularly matter what we do to you, does it?" I asked.
Becky again, remained quiet
"Who else is part of your team?" Elias asked.
"As if I would really tell you that. Kill me now. I will never give up my comrades." she scoffed.
"We'll give you time to think about that." I told her, motioning for Elias and Baker to return upstairs.
"I will scream at the top of my lungs." Becky threatened.
"You do that, darling. This room is sound proof."
I shut the door behind me and took the key from Felicia to lock it.
"Is she dead?" she asked.
"No, but you needn't worry about her. Right now you should be focussing on your wedding, we are only a few days away." I said, bringing her forehead forward to kiss it.
Matilde entered the hallway to announce the arrival of Mr. Foster. All eyes turned to her as she continued on to say that he wanted to speak to me and to Elisa.
Foster was waiting for me in the living room. I grabbed Elisa from the kitchen and told her to play it cool until it was clear what Foster wanted.
We entered the living room and took a seat across from him.
"Great to see you." I said, shaking Foster's hand.
"Sure. Listen, I'm here to speak to you, Elisa. You spent quite some time over at the Davis plantation." he began.
"You know that I am a slave hunter, but what you don't know is that I have been tracking one particular slave. She was put into the system, then she magically disappeared as if she never existed. I've heard rumors of her presence within this town."
