Monday morning, I go to school, unsure of what the day might bring, weaving through the mild crowd of students to reach my first class. I can't help feeling relieved knowing the troublemakers aren't in my first class. I don't think I'm ready to see Ethan yet after yesterday's incident. The very thought makes my throat throb, though, thankfully, I was not badly hurt. I just hope nothing like that ever happens again.

Just when I thought the start of my day would be peaceful, I spot Liam and Ethan waiting outside, what I assume is, their first class. I was surprised to see them here so early, especially since they are the type to come to school late. The scarlet-haired boy is on the floor, reading a comic book, with Ethan standing next to him. He seems exhausted, staring off into space while listening to the music coming from the white earbuds in his ears and blowing bubbles with his pink gum. I attempt to scurry past without being noticed, but much to my dismay, I'm caught, and by Ethan, no less.

My body stiffens as he comes in front of me and take a cautious step back. He has on a flat expression, but there is also a faint blush turning his cheeks a rosy pink. At first, we just stare awkwardly at one another, him fidgeting a bit before reaching into the pocket of his bright red hoodie to pull out a pack of watermelon-flavored gum. The boy opens it and takes out a piece before holding it out to me, ushering me to take it.

"I, uh... I'm sorry for yesterday. I shouldn't have..." He looks over to his friend, who looks up from his comic and makes a gesture for him to keep going. Ethan sighs and looks back at me, blush darkening. "I shouldn't have done that. It won't happen again." He spoke as though he had never apologized in his life, looking absolutely humiliated. I did not say anything right away, just stared at the gum then back at him. I'm guessing he's using it as a peace offering to make up for his actions. I'm not really keen on the idea of accepting for a number of reasons, but he does sound genuinely sorry for it.

'I did say I'd consider things, I suppose. Just this once, then, but if something like this happens again, I'm cutting them off for good.' I force a small smile and accept the gum, putting it into the small bag slung over my shoulder for later. We're not actually allowed to chew gum in school, and I don't want to get in trouble for something so stupid.

"All right. Thank you for apologizing. I'll admit, I'm partially at fault too. I know you were just messing around, but I'm not used to that, so when you called me a housewife, you kind of set me off. I shouldn't have shoved you." Ethan gives me a look of shock, like he didn't expect me to apologize back.

"You're saying it's your fault?"

"Don't twist my words. I said it's partially my fault, but yeah. I should've known you might react badly to being pushed... Uh, no offense! You just come off of a bit—" I'm silenced by his hand, which covers my mouth.

"It's fine." Liam laughs, appearing behind me and wrapping his arm around my shoulders to pull me to his side.

"There we go! Told ya you could do it!" He applauds his friend before looking at me. "He's been waiting all weekend to apologize, you know?"

"Shut up, man." Ethan throws a playful punch at Liam's shoulder, making him laugh. The redhead lets go to hold up his hands in mock surrender with a cheeky grin on his face.

"Ooo~ Is the great Ethan defending his pride?" His comment makes the boy's face turn bright red as I shake my head at the two.

"I'll see you weirdos later. I have to get to class." I move right past them and continue my way down the hall only to freeze when they call out to me.

"See you later, housewife!" I puff my cheeks out and spin around to glare at Liam for his joke, which he responds with a shit-eating grin. I laugh when Ethan hits the lid of the boy's black, baseball cap, causing the hat to cover his eyes. He meets my gaze with a smirk and waves me off.

"Hey! What the hell was that for?!" Liam pounces on Ethan, and the two begin to play fight. I shake my head at them and turn away, not wanting to be late. I rush to class and sit at my desk in the middle of the front row before pulling out my things for the lesson. As I do this, my ears pick up on the quiet whispers of a group of girls sitting near the back.

"Is that her?"

"Yeah, that's the one. She's been hanging out with those two freaks."

'Are they talking about me?' My brows scrunch as I focus on their conversation to make sure.

"You couldn't pay me to hang out with those fucking weirdos. I bet she's sleeping with both of them so they won't do anything to her. What a slut." The girl snorts a laugh, but keeps it down to not catch attention. I chew on the inside of my cheek, feeling very upset by their hurtful words. I really hope it isn't me they are referring to, but I doubt that's the case.

"I know, right?" I spin around gazing in their direction to get a good look at the three gossipers. One has bleach blonde hair with a gold, heart-shaped locket around her neck and heavy eyeshadow; the second has a black, pixie cut, is wearing a pair of silver, hoop earrings and has brown eyes lined in black eyeliner and long, fake lashes; as for the last, the best way to describe her is a tan Barbie with bright, pink lipstick and red, acrylic nails. They immediately fall silent and look away, acting as though they weren't talking to each other. I shoot them a sharp glare and scoff as I face the front again.

To my dismay, they go right back into it as soon as my back is turned, throwing hurtful words left and right about me and the two delinquents. Our names were never mentioned, but it's quite obvious who they're talking about with how they reacted to me looking at them. I groan and rest my chin upon folded arms, frowning deeply as tears glaze my eyes. Is this how people view me? A slut, really? Even the boys had said something similar the day we were in detention together. I can't say I get it. What did I ever do? This whole school is out of wack. These people are ridiculous.

'I wish we never moved here. It sucks.'

When the bell rings, the insults are put to an end, and the lesson begins.
