As I saw my mom get out of the car, I then realized that I didn't do what she said earlier. She told me to think of ways to help better my grades over break.
Last time I checked, I didn't do any real thinking, and if I don't do what she said to do, I'll get punished.
If me or any of my siblings were to get in trouble, my mom would ground us and take our favorite things away.
My favorite things happen to be my phone, laptop, and boyfriend. She would literally cut me off from him if she grounded me.
She never actually done it before since I've stayed on my best behavior. But she has definitely threatened me about it.
As I went to my room, I closed my door and tried to think of anything to say to her. I don't know why, but it was as if I couldn't think anymore.
Then I heard two knocks and my door opened, showing my mom's strangely cheerful face.
"Hey, babygirl. Did you think of anything, yet?"
I couldn't lie to my mom. I never could and I don't think I ever will.
"Uhm...no, not really. I forgot when I started babysitting the boys today."
"Oh that's fine honey, I've actually thought of something at work that might work for you." She said that a little too happily. It was starting to creep me out.
"I was thinking about getting you a tutor." I looked at her crazy.
"A what!?!" This woman out of her mind. Getting a tutor is the last thing I want to do.
"I want to get you a tutor and you can't say anything because I've already got you one." She said with a big smile, like she did something.
"Mom, I don't want a tutor. It's so embarrassing."
"How is getting better at school embarrassing?"
"If I get it wrong, which I know I will, it'll be an embarrassment."
"That's what a tutor is for Aliyah. Whatever, you're getting a tutor and that's final. I've already talked to his mom and he'll be over on Monday to help you get better all break."
"Wait...it's a guy and all break?" I was stunned now. I thought it would be for a day or two.
"Yes, is there something wrong? You should know him though, his name is Dylan. He's my coworkers son and he goes to your school."
I was extremely confused now, because I only know one Dylan but he transferred years ago.
"Anyways, what do you want for dinner 'cause I'm tired of talking to you now." She lighten the mood by laughing after.
My mood did not lighten.
"I'll just have some pizza rolls, thanks." She left soon after.
So I'm getting a tutor and it's a guy named Dylan. I've never had a tutor, let alone a guy tutor that goes to my school. My boyfriend is going to be pissed.

It was now Sunday and I was left alone with my little brother. We sat on the couch watching The Office, eating popcorn.
I got a text from my boyfriend asking to meet him at the park to hangout. I texted him back, telling him I'm on my way.
"Hey Xavier, do you want to come to the park with me? Trevor wants to hang and I thought you'd want to play basketball or something."
"Yeah, let me change first." He said jogging up the stairs to get dressed and I went to the kitchen to grab my purse and two water bottles.
When he comes back down, we make our way out the door to the park.

We reached the park 10 minutes later and Xavier leaves my side as soon as he can.
I look around to find my boyfriend when I spot him sitting on a bench with another girl that I've seen at our school before. They were kinda sitting too close together and laughing which made me a little jealous.
I started to walk towards them when the girl noticed and gave me the meanest mug ever. Trevor, my boyfriend, saw her face and looked in my direction. He stood up and walked towards me to give me a hug.
As he hugged me, the other girl scoffed and it made me a little happy that I was making her jealous.
"Hey babe, this is my friend Jessica. She moved here a couple weeks ago and thought you two could be friends." I stared at him and back to her being on her phone then back to him.
"No, thank you." I said as I went towards the swings.
He followed me, catching up to me.
"Why not, she's a good girl to be friends with and she doesn't have any girl friends."
Jessica started following us, still on her phone.
"Hmm, I wonder why she doesn't have any girl friends." I said sarcastically. "Trevor, she doesn't need you to get her new friends. If she really wanted friends, she could get them herself." I started walking from the swings to my brother at the basketball courts, trying my best to get away from him now.
"Aliyah, why do you have an attitude?" He said bravely. "I just wanted to help her and hope you two could be friends."
"Trevor, I don't have time for this, I'm going home." I walked to my brother and told him I was going home and left. We lived three blocks away from the park, so Xavier was fine on his own.
As I reached my house, my phone had 20 messages and 5 missed calls all from Trevor. I rolled my eyes and went to where I desired the most...the kitchen.
I made some food and went to my room and watched Netflix for the rest of the night.
Through my door, I heard my family come into the house one by one as the hours passed.
My mom popped in during the middle of Shameless and reminded me of my tutoring tomorrow. She told me he'll be here at 11 in the morning. Why so early? I don't know, but I honestly don't want to be near any type of education during break.
I closed my MacBook, almost falling asleep and covered myself with my soft white comforter, thinking about how tutoring will work out for me.
