➻ Chapter One

Chapter One: Introducing Thomas Oliver

WARNING: BULLYING!

Being late for class was not  Thomas' plan to start the day, neither was getting soaked from head to toe in rain water. His backpack, which is thankfully waterproof, felt twice as heavy on his shoulders and his twenty minutes of blow drying his hair went to waste. He had slept in due to the rain drowning out his alarm, and forgot his favorite umbrella hanging on his door (-"ah shit my gay agenda!"-). 

Thomas sat in the subway glumly, his shoulders sagging in both fatigue and his own dramatics. He looked up from his wet converse highs, and was met by the sight of Mrs. Atwell holding her bag close to her chest with a troubled look on her face. She caught Thomas' gaze and gave him a curt nod, as they both knew they were late. Thomas awkwardly shifted his attention to his shoes once more and prayed that the school's AC will dry him off.

Thomas readjusted his glasses nervously as he knew he was next, his hands were already sweating and almost dropped his laptop. He trudged to the board and began hooking up the projector to his device, anxiously smiling at his classmates (Who were rude enough to not return) and breathed deeply. He loaded his presentation and cracks his knuckles. " For today's presentation, I will explain to everyone the purpose of finding our partners" He knew  they heard him clearly, but due to his low status in the school hierarchy he was humiliated instead. Someone threw a notebook at him, which hit him just above his eyebrows, and everyone followed.  The words "queer" "fag" and "wrong" were chanted, echoing in Thomas' ears.           The teacher attempted to calm everyone down, but Thomas had already fled the classroom with his things (plus the notebook) and ran to the rooftop. 

He was lost in thought, a dangerous event when it takes place right after a class bullying. His hands shook violently as he reached for the notebook that they threw at him, his mind was telling him to stop because they aren't worth it. His body failed his inner voice and opened the notebook and found....nothing. 

"Oh thank God" he gasped, tossing the notebook across the rooftop. He looked up at the sky and back at his covered arm, pulling the sleeves of his uniform to see the permanent birthmark in his forearm. The words " I can't believe Thanos won" were in clear bold letters, causing Thomas to roll his eyes. His childhood consists of hiding the spoiler from many people, and covering it up with make-up. The make-up idea ended in a disaster as his classmates found out and accused him of being a homosexual, which was true but how dare they say it as an insult, so Thomas began covering it with long sleeves (an Idea his best friend suggested).

While Thomas was moping about his imperfections, the door he was leaning on suddenly opened and the loud voice of his best friend rung in his ears. " Tommo! I heard what happened" Damian dropped his bag and hugged his best friend, not liking how the others treated him. Damian Anderson is an enthusiastic boy with a smile that can make people weak in the knees, but he was also a vintage dork with his dramatics. " Your sugar daddy will kill them all, I promise" Damian laughs as Thomas hits him repeatedly for the 'sugar daddy' joke.

" Damn my friend, because of you the detention rooms are flooding" Damian laughed, patting Thomas on the back. Thomas glanced at his friend worriedly, his eyebrows knitting together. "Well...After they pulled their stunt on you, the teacher sent them all to detention. It's so weird seeing a whole class walk to the principal's office, you know?" Damian opened his bag and tossed his friend a granola bar. " Here, eat it. I know you didn't eat breakfast today"

"Thanks"

"No prob, bob"

"My name's Thomas...."
