Separation Issues

     Peyton Parker had separation issues.

     She sighed as she wiped her hands on her black sweatpants, drying them with minimum efficiency. It had only been 11 days since her roommate Kayley left for Brooklyn to attend an art school, and she had already bitten her nails down to the point her fingers bled.

     Peyton checked her phone for any new messages from Kayley, and when her only new notification was that her Valkyrie Connect stamina was ready to be collected, she headed to the kitchen to make herself lunch. She opened the fridge, her eyes scanning the bare shelves.

     "I wasn't planning on eating anyways." she muttered to herself, closing the refrigerator door and plopping herself on the couch in the small living room, turning YouTube on.

     While scrolling through the videos, Peyton's breathing picked up as she flipped past subscribed channels her and Kayley watched, away from certain Amv's and Mep's.

     Peyton turned off YouTube immediately, her hands shaking as she pressed the against her head, trying to calm herself down.

     Once she was sure she wouldn't have another panic attack, she opened her eyes, picking up her phone and pulling up her text messages, deciding it would be best to check in with Kayley.

P: What are you doing?

She typed, but erased it before sending. She didn't want to sound too interested.

P: Hey, just checking in

She tried, and after pondering for a few moments, she nodded to herself, pressing send. She waited for a reply.

10 seconds passed, then 20, then 40, then a minute. Peyton stayed staring at the screen. 2 minutes. 5. 10. This amount of time without blinking couldn't be healthy. And just as her eyes became watery (from the lack of blinking or worry, she wasn't sure), her phone chimed it's familiar "Pew."

~K has joined chat~

K: Hey

"Hey?" Peyton blinked. "Hey" wasn't exactly the reply she'd been expecting. But then, it never was with Kayley.

P: What are you up to?

She texted, and this time, Kayley responded almost immediately.

K: I was studying, but it's extremely boring. What about you?

P: Oh, just sitting here...

K: Mmkay, well I got to go, Allie's waiting for me so we can go out for a bit. She's new to Brooklyn too.

~K has left the chat~

Peyton sighed. Those few moments were probably going to be the upside of her day. She set her phone down and layed back on the couch, closing her eyes.
