Natsu continued to Face-Time his friends during lunch and afternoon breaks while Gray pretty much stayed in his room to attend his online classes, only coming out when Natsu cooks something. Natsu only ever stayed in his room or the house's study room. He was bored and needed to do something besides bother Gray or pity himself. Zeref would visit him after class hours only to leave around dinner. Natsu didn't mind and so did Gray, he was glad for a different company.
His parents though, they never really asked what's going on and they were never home anyway. Though, they do call at night to check in on Gray yet he didn't really bring up his other roomie. Truth to be told, he didn't really bother Natsu with anything more than neccesary. They would pass each other in the kitchen or the living with only a glance or a nod as an acknoledgement. Gray didn't push, they were both adjusting afterall: Natsu from the secluded environment and Gray for his new-found (not in denial anymore) feelings. He didn't bring it up yet as everything is still heavy with tension and he's positive that it will only make the fire mage withdraw more.
He wasn't being a coward or anything. On the contrary, he wanted nothing more than to pull Natsu and kiss the living day lights out him but he needed to take him into consideration too. In the first place, he doesn't even know how he felt in love with him, he just did. And Natsu would flip and probably make things worse. Gray just wanted him to finally see what's reality rather than just turning his back on it. He already wasted so much time during his denial phase and Natsu is prolonging it more. It may sound like he's blaming the pinkette but no, he's not. He's only frustrated. They weren't really known for their patience but they're both trying.
"Hey, Flame-brain!" He yelled from the door.
"What?!" Snapped back from the study.
"I'm going out for a bit, need something?" Gray checked his watched and absently adjusted his coat.
He's been sitting in that chair since morning and only stands up if he wants to empty his bladder or satisfy his hunger. Now, classes are over and he needed a breather from books and technical buzzing and maybe from the avoidance also. He heard the door open but there was no footsteps.
"Just a take out from Kogi's!" He answered.
Gray rolled his eyes and huffed. "You need sugar and fat for your blood circulation, be more specific!" He growled as he crosed his arms.
Sprinting footsteps thump from upstairs and Natsu skid from the corridor with his hand grabbing the rails to prevent him from sweeping farther away. His eyes were glimming with annoyance with a hint of amusement too. "Hey! You're the nanny here. You know what my diet plan is!" He taunted.
Gray didn't bite the bait, instead he smirked. "You complain like a real brat if I bring you something that's recommended by your aunt and now I'm giving you the chance yet you still pass it to me. Wow..."
Natsu crossed his arms and pouted. "Shut up. Just bring me meat and some ice cream to go with it."
Gray grinned widely, showing his white teeth. "That wasn't so hard, was it?" He sang and sprinted out the door and managed to close it before something was able to land on him. Natsu has a good aim afterall.
Gray was grinning even as he turned on the pavement. He didn't bother with his car seeing as he wanted some time off, not a runaway drama. He can feel the wind blow because of his swaying hair and he would bet good jewels that it must be chilly to some people. Despite the chill, it seemed like a fair weather: no dark clouds, a warm and dozing sunshine, a calm neighborhood, and cheery people. He can already feel himself relax and forget about his sore and stressful day.
"Princess?"
He spoke too soon.
Gray walked back to his house and silently crept to the garage. He didn't actually care if Natsu caught him but he'd like to save himself some time of answering questions. Specifically, where his meat snd ice cream was. He pushed the door up and grabbed some keys on the hanger. He rounded on his car but bypassed it in favor of the figure at the back with a tarp around it. Gray paused, it's been a while since he rode this thing. Shrugging, he pulled the tarp and cringed at the dust floating around. Below, it revealed a sleek black motorcycle.
