"I had said no one would hurt you again or I'd kill them. I wasn't the one who broke that deal."
When I woke up, I was being placed gently on the white couch of our shared apartment house.
Voices talked back and forth behind me, and I recognized the other belonged to Jungkook. Great, another person who I wanted to see.
I sat up quickly when I realized what they were talking about.
"You stay here with her. I'm going to put that bastard in his place," he growled, walking past Jungkook in a huff.
Car keys jingled in his hand, and I recognized them to be Jungkook's.
"No!" I yelled out, my knees hitting the back of the couch as I was sitting backwards.
My fists gripped the top of the back cushions and he stopped walking to the door. His eyes softened when he looked back at me.
I could feel the tears in my eyes starting to come back as he slowly walked over to me, his hand gently caressing my cheek.
"I can't have anything bad happen to you, either," I whispered, my voice breaking.
He swallowed hard and he bit his lip before speaking, "I'll be okay. Nothing bad is going to happen. I'm just going to talk to him. If anything escalates, I'll call the police, okay?"
I started shaking my head frantically, my hand now gripped the wrist of his hand that was on my cheek. His face was covered with heartbreak as I knew he was feeling it all emotionally.
"No, no. I don't want you to leave. Please," I begged, my eyes now closed as I snuggled myself into his warm chest.
His hand went to the back of my head and his own voice started to break when he tried to calm me down.
I could hear a small sniff coming from the back of the room, leaving me to assume that Jungkook was also crying.
"Jungkook is going to stay here with you. He's going to look after you. We can trust him now, can't we?" he asked, his head turning to look back at his friend.
Jungkook nodded, his hand covering part of his face to hide his streaming tears. I knew I probably looked like I had been through hell.
His strong hands pulled me away from him, grabbing me by the tops of my shoulders as he continued to speak to me softly, "I will be back soon. I promise."
He kissed my forehead and, with one last glance at me, he walked out of the door and disappeared.
I continued to sob into the back of the couch cushions. The feeling of the couch sank, letting me know Jungkook had sat next to me. His hand rubbed softly against my back before pulling me into a tight hug.
"I'm so sorry," he whispered to me.
I didn't know what he was apologizing for – if it was from kissing me or because of the whole situation in general, but either way, I was going to forgive him.
Nothing he had done was as bad as this was.
Taking Jungkook's car to the barn, he made sure the radio was blaring around him to hype up his thoughts. It was the only way he could calm himself down instead of making rash decisions, which he was prone to do.
He made a promise to himself that he was not going to do anything without thinking it through first. He was not going to let himself hurt Mimi with whatever he thought about doing. The less she knew, the less she would be hurt.
