Alyssa laughed as her twin boys ran around the house, knocking over a pillow from the coach. "Michael! Jacob! Dinner!" she yelled from the kitchen, finishing up stirring the chicken and butternut gnocchi. Jacob ran in, his short, straight, carmel hair messed up. His brown eyes shined brightly. "Chicken?" he asked eagerly. Alyssa nodded, picking up the boy. Balancing him on her hip, Alyssa maneuvered to the table, placing the pan down. Michael followed after Lottie, laughing at a joke his best-friend, Gena, had told him.
"Is Gena staying for dinner?" Lottie asked her son. Michael nodded, pulling the chair out for Gena. "Thank you!" Gena chirped, climbing into the seat. Michael pushed her in, taking a seat next to her. Jacob sat on the other side of Gena.
Alyssa placed a plate in front of Michael and Jacob, Lottie placing one in front of Gena. "Thank you," the three of them chirped, digging in. Alyssa chuckled at her children and their friend. Lottie smiled, nudging her wife.
"Remind you of anyone?"
Alyssa hit her wife's shoulder playfully, ignoring the comment.
After dinner, everyone placed their dishes in the dishwasher, running back outside. Lottie hugged Alyssa from behind, resting her head on Alyssa's shoulder. "I love you," she whispered softly. Alyssa smiled, "I love you, too,"
