Cheyenne
"Alyssa, I'm fine. Did you find Joey?" Cheyenne begged, trying her best not to get her hopes up. One look in Alyssa's broken eyes and Cheyenne knew she hadn't. "Oh," Cheyenne could hear the disappointment in her voice.
"I'm so sorry, Cheyenne. I really am," Alyssa whispered, handing her a piece of ripped cloth, "We found this at the edge of the woods,"
Cheyenne took the cloth, gapping at it. "This is part of his knapsack," she murmured, holding it close to her chest. Alyssa hugged Cheyenne. Dai wrapped an arm around Cheyenne, whispering reassuring words to make the ginger feel better. Lottie held her arms out and Cheyenne lunged into them, greeting the warmth of a second family.
"He's gone. And I'll never forgive myself," Cheyenne cried softly, crystal tears trailing down her cheeks. The girls stayed like that, concerned about what had happened to the youngest member of the Pierce family.
"Where is he?"
The question hung in the air. No one knew the answer to it.
