"Pea. Peeeeea. Wake up."
Fallon poked Sweet Pea's dimple as he snored, one of his arms wound around her waist and the upper half of her body resting on his chest.
"What? Y-yeah, I can see the road—" He groaned, and then cracked one of his eyes open. "Oh, hi. Morning."
"Who did you think I was?" She giggled, and Sweet Pea ribbed small circles on her spine with one of his thumbs. "Dunno. What do you want for breakfast?"
"We could stop by Pop's on the way to school."
"What time is it?"
"We've got an hour and a half."
Sweet Pea looked a little more than disgruntled as he shifted, sitting up with Fallon still attached to him. "Blue Eyes, it's so damn early."
"I know. You don't get up if you sleep too much, remember?"
"Of course you'd remember that." He grumbled as he got out of bed, grabbing a towel as he headed into the bathroom.
Fallon huffed and swung her legs over the side of his bed, glad Sweet Pea had let her stay over the night before. She'd showered last night, so she let Sweet Pea use up most of the hot water while she got ready.
She applied a little makeup, brushed her hair, and pulled a t shirt over her head, slipping a flannel over that and skinny jeans onto her legs. Her worn boots sat by the door, and her Serpent jacket hung on a hook above them next to Sweet Pea's.
"Pea, come on, let's go!" She called, going to knock on the door. Her fist didn't get a chance to meet the wood, however, as her boyfriend emerged in a cloud of steam with nothing more than a towel around his waist.
"Oh, hi." She said, her mouth going dry as Sweet Pea smirked. "Like what you see?"
"Maybe, but we don't have time to fool around. You can wait."
He got dressed quickly, slipping his dog tags around his neck and sliding into his jacket as she laced up her boots.
She slung her bag over her shoulder, grabbing her sunglasses as Sweet Pea followed her out the door to their bikes.
"You sure you don't wanna ride with me?" He asked as she climbed on, starting her engine.
"No offense, babe, but I haven't ridden my bike in a while."
He shrugged and revved his engine, pulling away from the trailer, leaving her to follow behind him.
They grabbed a to-go bag from Pop's, filled with breakfast.
When they pulled up to Southside High, Fangs and Toni were already there, leaning against their bikes.
"Well well well, look who it is." Toni smirked and Fangs pretended to gag.
"Shut up, Fangs." Fallon sighed as Sweet Pea laughed.
They all walked inside, and Toni unexpectedly split off from the group to go talk to a kid in a ratty beanie and jean jacket, looking around uncertainly.
"Yo, I heard that's the new kid. Jughead Jones." Fangs said, and Fallon did a double take, not recognizing the boy who might as well have been a second brother.
"Sythe..." She whispered after him, no one hearing his old nickname that nobody but Fallon could call him.
They all watched from their lockers as Toni led him down the hallway, following them into their first class.
At Southside High, the classrooms were split into three general sections: the Serpents, the Ghoulies, and the kids that didn't fit in either.
Fallon tried not to gag as she saw some of the Ghoulies staring at her, but one scowl from Sweet Pea and they looked away.
Nobody was really paying attention to what the teacher was saying, and Fallon definitely wasn't because of the conversation she and Toni were having on a piece of notebook paper.
Without warning, Sweet Pea slammed his phone down, bellowing "DAMMIT!" As he stormed out of the room.
"You're up, babe. Girlfriend duty starts now." Toni said to Fallon, and Fal sighed as she got up to follow SP out of the room.
She found him in the hallway, his knuckles bruising from the locker he'd just punched, practically fuming.
"Baaaaabyyyyyy..." She singsonged, wrapping her arms around her boyfriend's waist.
He said nothing, not even turning around when she pressed her nose into his spine. "Pea. Honey, what's wrong?"
"Word on the street is that Malachi is fuckin' bragging about what he and his goons did to you. To my lady!" He shouted, pounding the locker again.
Fallon quickly grabbed his fists and pulled them to her chest, looking up at him with wide eyes.
"Sweet Pea, take a breath. As much as that makes my skin crawl, you can't kick some ass with broken hands."
He sighed finally, leaning down to press a long kiss to Fallon's forehead. "Where'd I be without you?" He murmured against her skin, and she huffed. "In jail again, probably."
He chuckled humorlessly, wrapping his arms around her and tugging her little body to his chest, resting his chin on the top of her head.
"You know, the day you disappeared, I was gonna ask you out. Bought the flowers and everything."
"Really?" She sighed sadly. "I would've said yes, you know."
"That's what I was so nervous about. That's why I kept avoiding you all week."
"Sweet Pea, you absolute teenage girl. That's adorable."
"I'm not adorable! I'm scary as hell! Hiss hiss, bitches!"
"That's cute. Are you collected enough to go back to class?"
He rolled his eyes, chuckling. "I guess so."
They slunk back to class, the teacher paying no mind to when they re-entered, sitting down next to their friends. "We need to talk later." Sweet Pea said to Fangs in a low, deadly serious voice.
Fangs nodded grimly as Toni raised her eyebrows at Fallon. "Later." She mouthed, Toni nodding.
For the rest of class the four Serpents passed notes and glances as the teacher droned on about a book none of them would care to read.
