Amelia

I watched from the bed beside Alec's as Robert tended to his son. My side still stung like hell, but I was more concerned on how the Forsaken got through and how come the wards didn't detect it.

"Don't squirm." Robert ordered as he stitched up his son.

"I'm not. It doesn't even hurt." Alec lied. I could tell his hurt when he tried to hide his wince. His phone rang. He sighed, reaching for it when Izzy took his phone from him.

"No talking," she told her brother. "Just healing. Both of you."

"How come it got through?" I asked.

Robert shook his head. "We don't know yet. But when Izzy gets off the phone, we'll ask her."

Izzy finally got off the call, handing the phone back to Alec. "It was Jace. He's on his way."

"Isabelle, what did you find out?" Robert asked his daughter.

She sighed. "I figured out why our wards didn't detect them. It had angel blood with seelie properties."

Robert shook his head. "Valentine, no doubt."

"Yeah," I agreed. "Like the one that attacked the wolves."

"A Forsaken wound often needs a little warlock TLC." Magnus said. "May I? Uh, free of charge." He offered to Alec.

"It's okay. I'm fine." Alec shooed his help away. "If there's anyone who needs a warlock TLC, it's Amelia."

Magnus turned to me. "Surely. If anything were to happen to you-"

"Magnus, I'm good." I assured him. "All right?"

He huffed. "You better be. Because I want that wound gone when I see you walk down the aisle."

"It won't matter because my sides aren't exposed in my wedding dress, Magnus." I gave him a dumbfounded look. "Is there even a dress like that?"

The warlock shrugged. "I've lived for centuries, buttercup. And I saw much more than just a wedding gown with gaps on the sides. And I should find this Lydia person. Payment upfront is just smart business."

Magnus looked between the two of us. "Where might I find her?" He asked.

I shrugged. "We haven't seen her. But if we do, we'll send her your way."

Magnus left. Alec turned to me. "C'mon. Let's get you to your room."

I scoffed. "What am I, a kid?"

He rolled his eyes. "No, but you're severely injured. You need to lay down."

Sighing in defeat, I stood up, grunting at the pressure on my side. "How's you arm?"

"Okay." Was all he said.

I raised an eyebrow at him. "I don't believe you, but okay."

"She calls Meliorn in and arrests him, then acts like it's all out of her hands." Izzy spat, anger radiating off of her.

I furrowed my eyebrows at the news, just as Alec landed another blow on the punching bag.
