Chapter 30: Memories

Noah's POV:

I was walking towards my mom's car so that she could drive me to the set of Stranger Things for rehearsal. I got in the car and quickly gave my mom a peck on the cheek, since she always complains about me not kissing her anymore.

She grinned. "How's Angel doing?" My mom asked me as I settled into the passengers seat and buckled up.

"She's doing okay. I think she heard me today, but I'm not so sure," I replied sadly. My mom placed her hand on my shoulder to comfort me. "It's okay, Noah. She's in good hands," My mom assured me. I gave a weak smile then gazed out the window. I felt like I left something, so I stopped my mom before she started driving.

I checked my pockets and looked around me to make sure I had everything, then I remembered. "I left my jacket," I told her.

"You want me to get it or-" she started, but I cut her off. "No, no. I got it," I replied as I quickly got out of the car. She nodded her head and sat back in her seat.

I didn't care that I was going to be late for rehearsal because first, I needed my jacket, it's always freezing there and second, I needed to see Angel one more time.

I needed to see her beautiful face again.

I made my way to the front desk. "Hi, I'm Noah Schnapp. I was just here a few minutes ago and I think I left my jacket in my girlfriend's hospital room,"

The lady gave me a suspicious look, checked the sign in sheets then handed me a visitor pass and waved me off. I took it slowly and starting walking towards Angel's room.

When I arrived to her room, there was a doctor and two nurses surrounding it. I started panicking and ran up to the room.

"Wha-what's going on?" I asked the brunette-haired nurse anxiously and out of breath.

"Are you a relative of Angel?" One of the nurses asked me.

"Uh, no, but I'm her boyfriend," I replied, still anxious to know if the love of my life would be alright. The nurse gave me a long, cold, hard stare then sighed. "Go ahead,"

I quickly walked into the room and saw my jacket in Angel's hands and her eyes closed. Two nurses were in there. One taking her blood pressure, the other checking her heart rate. I cleared my throat to catch their attention.

The blonde nurse turned around, looked at me and smiled.

"You must be the boyfriend," she said sweetly. I gave her a confused look, wondering how she knew.

"After you left, Angel woke up. She said something about a jacket and she's proud about an algebra test, I don't really know. She was babbling," the nurse told me.

I smiled because I knew exactly what she was talking about. I was extremely happy that she had heard me and finally woke up.

"Why isn't she up now?" I asked the beach blonde nurse.

"We had to put her to sleep because her heart rates were through the roof. She would've fallen into a deeper coma, or worse.. death," she replied.

A tear threatened to fall down my face.

"W-will she be able to wake up?" I asked with my voice quivering.

The nurse stopped her work, looked me in the eye and placed a soothing hand on my shoulder.

"We're hoping for the best," she answered sweetly. She then went back to working and the brunette male nurse didn't even say a word to me.

I went closer to Angel and held her hand in mine. More tears were falling down from my face.

"I love you, Angel. I just wanted to let you know again. And there's nothing going on between Millie and I," I tolf her quietly.

I sniffed and looked down. "I'll explain it all when you wake up,"

I kept my head down while holding Angel's hand. After what felt like forever, I felt a light touch on my arm. My head jerked up and I saw Angel's eyes fluttering.

"She's- she's awake!" I exclaimed to the nurses. They sped-walked to Angel's bed and removed all types of tubes and masks and machines from her face.

Angel's eyes closed then opened back up after seconds. She looked at me confusingly and grinned weakly, a grin was appearing on my face growing bigger and bigger by the minute.

"Hey you. You feeling okay?" The male nurse asked her. She smiled toothlessly and nodded her head lightly.

"I'm so glad you're awake," I told her happily.

She gave me a soft, confusing look. "I-I don't u-understand," Angel struggled to say.

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at her. "What do you mean?" I asked.

She looked at the nurse, looked at me, then looked back at the nurse.

"Wh-who's that?" Angel asked. My face fell and my heart dropped.

She didn't remember who I was.

She didn't remember that I was her boyfriend.

She didn't remember that I loved her deeply and she did also.

The nurse looked at me sadly and rubbed her back. "That's your boyfriend, sweetie," the brunette replied.

"But.... I don't h-have that," she said looking down.

I stared at the nurses angrily and confused. Searching for answers about my dear Angel.

A doctor walked in with clipboards in his hands. "I'm sorry, but you're going to have to wait outside," the doctor told me while leading me out.

"Why cant I see her?! And why can't she remember me?" I asked, full of all types of emotions.

"There's signs of memory lost. We don't know if it's short-term or long-term yet," he said.

I stood there in silence.

I might not be able to get my Angel back, I thought to myself.

That thought saddened me, and I was on the verge of tears once again.

"I'm very sorry, but you have to go," the doctor finally told me before closing the door.
