AN: Just so you know I plan on doing little flashbacks between each book.  So, since I just finished Prisoner of Azkaban, here's a little flashback for ya! Next chapter will start Goblet of Fire.

September 1st, 1971

"Remember to write, and remember, Horace Slughorn is head of Slytherin. Get on his good side and you'll do just fine, and..."

But Sirius Black had stopped listening to his mother about five minutes ago.  He had ten minutes left before the train was going to leave the station and he didn't want to get stuck in the carriage with all the loser kids.

"Mom..." He whined.  He realized his mistake before he saw his mother's face.  "I mean, Mother, I really should be going.  They'll run out of seats!"

"Let the boy go Walburga," His father urged her looking at his watch.  He was most likely counting down the minutes till he too could leave.

Mrs. Black sighed.  "Very well, you may go." She patted Sirius on the shoulder as a way of saying goodbye.

"Goodbye!" Sirius called before rushing away.  He ran along the platform heading to the entrance of the train.  He wasn't entirely paying attention to those around him, which is why he bumped into a girl causing her to drop her cat.

"Cheddar!" the girl screeched as she scooped up the ginger cat.  "You could have hurt him!"

"Sorry, blondie!" Sirius called the girl before running away.  He had to get on the train before his mother changed her mind.

He made it! Sirius walked down the corridor till he found a compartment that only had one boy in it.  He looked to be Sirius' age.  He had messy black hair and a pair of glasses.  He didn't look much like a loser to Sirius.

"Excuse me," Sirius called, catching the boy's attention.  "Can I sit here?"

The boy smiled and nodded.

"I'm Sirius, Sirius Black!"

"I'm James!" the boy responded.  "James Potter!"

"Potter? What kind of a name is that?" Sirius chuckled.

"And interesting one! Unlike Balck, which sounds so boring!"

Sirius couldn't help but laugh along with James.

The boys continued to talk and get to know each other.  They had many things in common, the biggest being Quidditch and causing trouble.  They were soon joined by two other boys.  One was a tall scrawny thing called Remus Lupin, who had a love for books.  Then there was Peter Pettigrew, a short large boy who seemed to be a bit shy.   As the train rolled out of the station the boys discussed Hogwarts and their excitement to see the castle.

"My Dad told me there are all sorts of secret passages!" James exclaimed.

Sirius grinned, "I'm going to find all of them!"

"No, I will!"

"Why don't you find them together?" Remus suggested, already taking on the role of peacemaker.

Sirius and James looked at each other and grinned.

"I have a feeling this won't end well,"

"Well? No.  Will it be fun? Most definitly!" James exclaimed making Sirius laugh.

"Come on Remus! I'll make it my personal mission to make sure you don't spend the whole school year looking at your books," Sirius stated flicking the book Remus was currently reading.
