Though her mother's name is Ai, she has no love for her daughter. Ai had always wanted a boy. Never had she wished for a girl. However, when Hina was born her mother was in distress and this caused her to be unable to bear anymore children. Therefore, her mother began to raise Hina as a boy, giving her the name Niko for public use.
As Hina grew older, she questioned a lot and it was in fact her father that cleared everything up for her. Hina became spiteful of her mother and her mother of her. If Hina did not act like a male, she would be punished by her mother. Unable to refuse, Hina continues to grow as a male.
