Amelia

ONE WEEK LATER

I still get surprised. When I look at my left hand, there's a ring with a sapphire birthstone. Coincidentally, my birthstone.

The ring also happened to be a family heirloom of the Lightwood's. And it is now resting on my ring finger as a sign of Alec and I's engagement.

My parents had called to congratulate me on the engagement, but why bother? They were the ones who set it up in the first place along with Maryse and Robert Lightwood.

After that, I had called my older sister, Lydia. She was ecstatic, and joked about me getting hitched first, and how she was destined to end up: "forever alone."

Shortly, Isabelle Lightwood and Jace Wayland had cornered us after the meeting and found out, once Izzy saw the familiar heirloom on my finger.

"Isabelle, Amelia, let's go." I heard Alec call.

Standing in front of Izzy's mirror, I scanned my outfit once again. Sure, I wasn't the distraction, but there was no way in hell I was going out looking like a hobo.

Alec then strolled into the room. "Hey there, big bro." Izzy greeted. She held her platinum wig with one hand while she used the other to fix it.

"I look pretty, don't I?" I asked Alec, doing a twirl. My dress had a sweetheart neckline and it reached an inch above my knees to which I paired with some black heels and my trusty leather jacket.

"Really?" Alec asked in a bored tone.

"What can I say?" I shrugged my shoulders.

The Raven haired boy only walked out, with us on his heels. "Demons dig blondes." Izzy told Alec as he looked at her wig.

"Of course they do, but that's white." Alec pointed out.

I laughed. " That's platinum, babe." I caught up with Alec, and laced my arm through his.

"And they don't exactly like Shakespeare, okay, Alec?" Izzy quipped.

Alec raised his eyebrows. "You two are plenty distracting on your own." He sighed.

"So, be yourself. Is that what you're trying to say?" I asked him, tying my hair into a loose ponytail.

"Nevermind." Alec shook his head. "Looking good, let's go."

Jace was checking the surveillance when we entered.

"We're ready, Jace." Izzy informed him.

"Nice choice, Izzy. Demons dig blondes." Jace smirked, probably thinking about himself.
