Dedicated to: Cappuccinos
This was it.
I was officially leaving.
I sat on the plane, staring out the window. Watching the carts full of luggage fill the plane on a conveyer belt.
I was pretty much alone. My parents got upgraded to first class, and left me on my own.
At least I might get a row to myself, I thought.
Then, I realized something.
I left for a reason. Everything happens for a reason. I am sitting on this plane for a reason.
I haven't got as far to what that reason is yet.
So much for an epiphany.
Suddenly, a deep voice snapped me out of my thoughts, by saying, "Is this seat taken?"
I snapped my head away from the window, to see a guy around my age standing in the aisle.
"Sorry, the flight attendant told me to find an empty seat, considering I was a pretty last minute addition with no ticket."
"N-no. Neither of them are taken." I replied.
A wide grin appeared on his face. "Great."
He put his luggage in the overhead bin, and took a seat in the middle.
"In my defense," he whispered in my ear, "you seem like a much more enjoyable seat partner than the old lady across the aisle."
I looked over, and sure enough there was an old lady sitting by herself.
"I'm James." he greeted, holding out his hand.
"Riley." I said, taking his hand.
He grinned, showing off his perfect teeth.
Maybe, just maybe, he's my reason.
And this flight won't be so bad, after all.
