Wind rushed through Ladybug's hair as she ran across the rooftop of Paris. It was early morning, and the sky shone a bright river blue. The sun beat down on Ladybug as she quickened her step. A single black dot sat in the middle of her earring and blinked away as she landed gracefully in her room.

With a gentle tinkling sound, the black polka dotted disguise shimmered from her body. With her mask off, there stood Marinette. Tikki flew from her earring, and with small noise, landed in her hands. Marinette gently placed Tikki on a plate of cookies that was prepared earlier that morning.

"That was too close!" She said as she chomped on a cookie.

"Tell me about it." Marinette said with a sigh.

She sat at her desk and with another sigh, she lay down her head.

"If these Akuma attacks continue, I'll get less and less time to see Adrien!" She groaned.

"Well, looks on the bright side: Paris will always be protected by Ladybug and Chat Noir!" Tikki piped after swallowing a bite of cookie.

Marinette huffed a laugh.

"You're right Tikki."

"Marinette!" Her mother called from downstairs.

She looked down towards the bakery.

"All ready Tikki?"

She flew into Marinette's bag and popped out her head.
"As ready as I'll ever be!" She said with a bright smile.

Marinette smiled and rushed down to the bakery.

Her mother smiled kindly as she handed Marinette her backpack. She kissed her cheek goodbye.

"Have a nice day sweetie."

"I will mama." Marinette said as she kissed her mother's cheek.

"Hey!" Alya exclaimed.

"What?" Marinette asked.

"Where were you yesterday?!" She smiled as she asked.

"I-I was in study hall by accident."

Alya sighed.

"You really need to work on that girl. Let's hurry before you run off again."

"Oh come on, I'm not like that!" She said with a chuckle.

Alya giggled.

"C'mon, let's go!"

As Marinette and Alya walked to the school building, a young man stood in front of the bakery. He smirked as he watched Marinette smile at Alya.

"Long time, no see...Marinette." He said.

And with a smile, he walked into the bakery. A squeal of joy soon followed his entry.

Later at break

"Do you wanna hit the mall afterwards?" Alya asked as she and Marinette stood in the schoolyard amongst some other kids.

"Sure! I really need to buy some new material for a dress I'm making."

"Oooo! What does it look like!?"

"You got a pic of it?" Nino, who had been talking to Adrien nearby, spoke as they walked over.

"You'll find out when I'm done." She said with a wink, putting a finger to her lips.

"Yo Mari!" An unfamiliar voice spoke from behind the group.

All four turned to see a teenager, older than Marinette, standing a little ways away from the group. His semi-flat brown hair lay crushed against his head by a faded camo army hat and his strongly built body covered by faded camo uniform. A small smile was spread across his thin handsome lips as he watched Marinette with bright dirt brown eyes.

Alya stood in front of Marinette with a motherly look on her face. She glared suspiciously at the boy.

"Who are you? How do you know Marinette?!"

They all turned to Marinette, who had both hands clasped over her mouth, her eyes wide.

She slumped to ground, covered her face with her hands and began to sob.

"Mari!! Are you okay?!" Alya shot down to Marinette's level.

"Let her go a minute." The boy said.

Alya turned to see the boy standing above her.

"Why should I?!"

"Alya...it's okay." Nino spoke up.
Hesitance shone boldly in Alya's eyes as Marinette continued to sob. But with a small tug from Nino, she stepped away from Marinette.

The boy knelt in front of Marinette and placed a large hand on her bouncing shoulder.
"Mari~chan...Ī nda yo." (In-die- oh)(It's okay)

Her sobbing slowed rapidly once he spoke those few words.

"What did he say?" Alya asked, shocked at how quickly she stopped.

"Adrien...?" Nino asked, looking for a translation.

"I don't know... he spoke Japanese."

"Dabide...Sore wa anatadesu?" (David... So-deh-wa-ana-ta-desoo) (David...is it you?)

"Hai... Mari~chan." (Yes)

Marinette gasped. She shot at the boy and wrapped her arms around his neck as she once again began to sob.

"Anata ni aitakatta!!!" (I missed you!!) She sobbed onto his shoulder and buried her face into the nape of his neck.

"Okay what is going on?!" Alya finally called, getting a little nervous about how close they were acting.

"Oh nothing... just a little catching up." The boy said as he wrapped his arms around Marinette.

"Who are you anyway?!" Alya snapped.

Before the boy could answer,Marinette leaned next to his ear and whispered. He nodded and helped Marinette to her feet. She turned to her friends, her eyes red from crying.

"Alya, Nino, Adrien..." She nodded to each friend when their name was said. She gestured to the boy, who stood next to her.

"This is David, my childhood friend... from America."
