“You look like an angel!”

I shook my head, laughing. “Yes, Captain Obvious.”

We were by the end hall of the entrance to the Halloween party and Lexie and I decided to have some sort of matching costumes. It turned out that she wore something that resembled an incubi, plus the little devil wings. I, on the other hand, wore a knee-length white dress, a flower crown on top of my head and of course a pair of white wings. Lexie was the one who suggested this outfit for me. She said I was too innocent. Too kind. Too angel-ish.

But really, I just wanted to enjoy this night. Ever since Thanatos came along, Psyche and I decided to stop the fight and save our energies for today. This night would be for the portal to the past – something I wasn’t quite ready for. Still, I had to. We had to.

“Please sign your name here,” I told the couple who were blatantly flirting in front of me. They had this Romeo and Juliet theme going on as they signed their names up. And it made me think of Eros. I had no idea where he was. I saw no signs of him this past week. I tried not to worry about him, but knowing Eros, he’d do all the reckless things beyond anyone’s imagination. What if Thanatos had somehow imprisoned him?

While I was consumed in my thoughts, Lexie was winking at the next guys in line dressed up as Frankensteins. They made a low groan at the back of their throats, clearly trying to impersonate a brain dead zombie.

Unfortunately for us, Lexie and I were assigned to take their attendances. We had to mark up their school days. The only problem was that people kept coming in and out of the event. They were buzzling in excitement, I knew that. Who wouldn’t? For the school, this was considered as Christmas. The students get to prank other people, and that sure is saying a lot for the Three A’s.

“I soooo need a break from this,” Lexie sighed.

I glanced at her and nodded.

“Really?”

“Yeah, go on. I’ll cover for you.” I smiled at her. After all, I’d like to have this night for myself.

Lexie winked at me. “Thank you! God, you’re really an angel! I’ll see you later.”
