CRYSTAL GEM : CHAPTER ONE

❝thank you . thank you for being you , steven .❞

As Steven burst into his home his eyes widen in surprise at the sight before him. One : the gems were home, and two : they were fighting bug like creatures who spat acid.

"Woah! Can i keep one?" He breathed out ecstatical. Pearl, one of the gems merely looked at him with a sympathetic smile. "Don't worry Steven, we'll get these Centipeedles out of your room." She said as her pale hand wrapped itself around one of its neck.

"Oh, you don't have to get rid of them! I kinda like them," he defended. A moment later it spat its green hot acid at him. He moved out of the way and watched as it burned a hole through the wooded floor. Pearl just corked a brow at him, making him sigh in defeat.

Steven wandered into the kitchen where he spotted Amethyst. She had her whip wrapped around an Centipeedle, squeezing it. The purple skinned female looked at the teen, a quirky grin on her face. "Sup Steven." She greeted as she gave the whip one last tug, making the Centipeedle poof out of existence.

Her lavender colored brows furrowed in thought. She put her pinky in her nose as she turned to the other two. "Guys! These things don't have gems!" She exclaimed.

"That must means theirs an mother near by." Garnet spoke. She pulled a Centipeedle off of her padded shoulder, and pulled it apart with her hands. Steven stared up at the tall melanin woman and tried to decipher what her eyes said through that thick visor.

"How come you guys never take me on missions?" He asked. This time Pearl spoke. "When you finally get a hold of your powers, then we'd finally take you on missions. Okay?" She asked as she snapped the creatures neck.

His happy mood didn't sour though, but he did let out a grim groan. "Oh come on Pearl! Fighting gem creatures cant be that hard!" He argued. This only made Pearl's face seem to distort in panic.

"Steven no, who knows what id do if someone hurt-" Pearl was cut of by Amethyst, who had tackled the taller gem to the ground. Amethyst smirked at Pearl before crossing her arms. "Oh come on, P !" She nagged. Pearl squirmed to get from underneath her, but there was no point. The girl was too heavy.

"Ugh! Get off of me you oversized prune!" Pearl cried. She flared her arms and legs around making her look like a bird. This only amused Amethyst, making her cork a brow.

"Come on, Pearl!" She boasted. Pearl just seemed to frown in distaste. Pearl was stubborn. If Amethystdidn't get up, she could be squished. But no matter Pearl always thought she was right. And the simple fact that most of the time she was, made her distaste for the pale gem to grow more.

Amethyst and Pearl's friendship seem to soured after Rose gave her life for Steven. Pearl pushed everyone away, thinking she was the only one who really knew Rose, even though they all cared for her.

Pearl began to change. She became more secretive, and more bashful towards Amethyst. She bashed Amethyst for everything she did. She scolded Amethyst for her childish behavior. She was one of the reasons why Amethyst had hatred for herself.

But Amethyst kept that hatred to herself. Covering up her hate with witty jokes and her lazy attitude. She tries to get better, and thanks to Steven, she has gotten better. Steven became a beacon of light to them all, and to everyone who lives in the city.

Finally, Garnet decided to step in.

"He's coming with us," Garnet declared. This caused Amethyst to smirk, while Pearl's expression turned to one of horror.
