Chapter 29: Asleep

686 19 11

Angel's POV:

I've been counting the days in my mind for how long I've been there. 53 days.

53 whole days.

Almost 2 months now.

Heaven and Jordan came to visit me for a few days. Chloe and April came for two weeks. Finn came for about two weeks, also, but on his own. None of them could hear me when I tried to respond to them.

Almost everyday, Noah would come to see me. Every time he comes, he would comfort me, tell me about his day, tell me how much he missed me, and how he wanted me to get better soon. He brought me flowers, balloons, teddy bears, get well cards, anything, just to see a blink of life from me. I wish I could respond, but for some reason I couldn't. Every time Noah starts to walk out the room, I try to stop him, but nothing would come out of my mouth.

I couldn't move or speak which made me curious if I was even still alive. Maybe this could all just be my imagination. I didn't know what was wrong with me. My mom came everyday, but she wouldn't stay for long because she would always end up crying.

I could be asleep. Everyday I would feel myself sinking into a deeper sleep every minute, every second. Like a trance or something.

Or I could be dead.

I didn't want to die. As much as I loved my dad, I wasn't ready to be with him yet.

I heard light knocks on my door which snapped me out of my thoughts. They knocked even more, as if the person would actually hear a response from me. Slowly, I heard the door creak open and the person walk towards me. I saw Noah. Noah. The love of my life.

"Hey you," Noah said softly. He sat down next to my legs and placed his jacket on the other side of my body. "I can't stay for long because I have to go film in a while. I just wanted to see your beautiful face again, wondering if you could open your eyes for me," he said hopefully. He placed his hand on my head and started playing with my hair. I tried placing my hand on his, but I couldn't. I just couldn't.

"Today at school Finn managed to spill his drink on Jessica," he told me while adding in a chuckle. "I really hope you can hear me because you would be laughing hysterically right now,"

I wish I could laugh, Noah. I wish you could hear me. I really do wish...

"I aced that algebra test, even though I totally thought I failed," He rambled on and on while I focused on trying to speak.

I'm so proud of you. I'm very proud. I want you to hear me, I'm trying my hardest. I tried moving my hand and it twitched.

Noah looked at my hand. "Angel? C-can you hear me?"

Yes I can hear you, baby. How the hell do I get in his head like in the movies. Noah? Noah! Can you hear me?

Noah made a humphing noise and looked down. "I really hope that wasn't my imagination, and it was actually you."

Yes Noah it was me. Why can't he hear me?!

"Well, I wanted to tell you, for like the one hundredth time, that I love you a lot. You're going to get better soon," he said sadly.

Noah kissed my forehead and got up to leave. I didn't want him to leave me, I wanted him to stay with me, near me, comfort me, and keep encouraging me to stay strong. He started walking towards the door and I tried everything in my power to keep him from leaving this room.

Noah! Don't leave! I'm here, I'm right here. Oh God please let him hear me.

"Noah," I said in a small, raspy voice, almost a whisper. I spoke. I could finally speak.

But Noah didn't hear me.

He walked out the door, and closed it behind him. "Noah, come back, please," I said in a whisper, barely being able to speak. But the door was already closed. My eyes shot open. As if I was in a dream, or finally got out of that horrible trance.

But it wasn't a dream, I knew it wasn't because his jacket was still right by my side. I grabbed it and slowly pulled it up to my chest. I wrapped my arms around the soft cloth, gripping onto it tightly. I smelled it, it smelled like his normal scent. For some reason he always smelled like green apple, which I loved.

Maybe he uses it because I love the smell.

Not only do I love the smell, but I also love him.

I quickly placed the jacket on my lap and fidgeted with my fingers. I finally made up my mind and shakily pressed the hospital call bell. A sound went off, and I heard footsteps running towards my room. Many nurses came towards me.

I heard mumbles of commands coming from all around the room. "Wait wait!" I cried out while trying to force the face mask off of me. My whole body was aching, and I was in pain, but none of the nurses would listen to me. I had to scream to get their attention. "This jacket. I-it belongs to my boyfriend. Please, tell him before he leaves the hospital that I love him, and that I heard everything," I said sympathetically.

"Oh sweetie, of course," A young, blonde-haired nurse replied to me. She left the room, leaving me there with the other nurses, placing lots of unknown tubes into my mouth. Moments later the blonde-haired nurse had came back. "I checked if he left, and he did. His name is Noah Schnapp right?" She asked me. I nodded my head.

She rechecked the book. "Yeah, he signed out a few minutes ago," she replied.

I sat back and scrunched down, cuddling with Noah's jacket.

He'll be back, he'll be back.

And I'll be able to talk to him.

Tears fell down my face, and I felt a needle pinch my arm. "What the hell are you doing? I need to see him! I-I need to.." I tried to finish my sentence, but I couldn't. I was becoming sleepier and sleepier by the minute.

Everything was becoming blurry, but I was still trying to hold on tightly to Noah's jacket.

I'll be able to talk to you soon, love.
