Stepping into the BAU, Spencer trailing a few steps behind you, you already knew this would be bad. If being super late wasn't enough, every head in the office turned to you and Spencer as you tried to casually and calmly walk to your desk.
But of course it couldn't be that easy. And soon enough you came face to face with Morgan, his lean structure blocking your path easily . "Hey Morgan." You quietly greeted, making an attempt to step around your colleague but Morgan was quick to step in front of you once more.
"You want to explain why you're so late?" Morgan quizzed. And then, gazing behind you, "Why you're both so late?"
His question lingered in the air. You could still feel the eyes of the office on the three of you, which made it harder for you to form a coherent excuse.
"My.. um... alarm didn't go off.." You offered, the statement sounding more like a question. Still, you nodded your head for extra conferment. "Mhm." Morgan coed, observing your attire which looked all too familiar.Shifting his gaze back to Spencer, Morgan queried some more. "And you Reid?"
It was all you could do to pray that Morgan would just let it go and not pester you any longer- hopefully saving you from further embarrassment.
"Well... you see.." Spencer began to incoherently mumble, his eyes suddenly very interested in the pattern of his shirt. Your previous words from the morning rang through his head. Though he would hate to admit it, you had been completely right. For once, he was at a loss."From the looks of it, it seems someone got lucky." Morgan laughed, wiggling his eyebrows for emphasis. It seemed he wasn't planning on giving you any mercy. Chewing nervously on the inside of your cheek, you just hoped that Spencer would find a way to get out of this. The eyes of the entire office on you wasn't helping.
"Y/N!" A voice called form the far side of the room. And there, with her hair in unreasonably high pigtails, was your savior.
"I should go." You shot a smile at the boys before making a beeline for Garcia, blessing her perfect timing all the way. Now you only had to deal with the guilt of leaving Spencer to fend for himself.
"Is there something you want to tell me?" Garcia questioned sternly, her arms crossed in an intimidating fashion as you sheepishly stood in front of her. Perhaps you could have taken her more seriously if she didn't have two miniature pink bows fastened to each of her ponytails.
You hesitated a moment, pretending to think. "Not that I know of."
"Oh really?" Garcia asked, complete unamused. "Really." You shot back, eyes never faltering."Well I know a certain doctor who's hair would argue with that." You friend stubbornly suggested. You slapped your hand to your face, subtly trying to avoid the oncoming blush.
"Garcia, not in the office!" You ordered once you had recovered."So something did happen!" She squealed, causing you to roll your eyes.
"No. I mean, yes, technically, but no." You declared. Suddenly, Garcia let out a loud gasp, her eyes growing wide. She leaned in closer and closer until her lips were an inch from your ear, from there she whispered the idea that you had been subtly trying to avoid. You gave Garcia a light shove, pushing her away.
"No I did not sleep with him." You concluded for her, narrowing your eyes and only hesitating briefly. "But?" Your friend urged, the corner of her lips tugging into a sinister smile.
Finally you gave in.
"But, I slept with him."A look of confusion swept across Garcia's features. Spotting the approaching Hotch out of the corner of your eye, you began guiding Garcia away from you and back to her personal work space. Wrapping her hands firmly around your arms, she stopped you short.
"Listen, I covered for you." She assured, nodding in Hotch's direction. "But in return we are going to have dinner tonight and you are going to tell me everything." She ordered, that same glimmer in her eyes."Fine!" You exclaimed, eventually getting back to your actual work. To your surprise the rest of the day went by rather easily. Yet, you couldn't help but notice how Spencer pointedly avoided Morgan. Which left you wondering exactly what they talked about.
So I finally updated. Sorry for being so inconsistent. I've had a lot of exams and project recently but I'm done with school now so that's a big relief! Anyways, this chapter is probably the shortest chapter I've written but I'll try update again today. ♥️♥️
