In church today, we talked quite a bit of the Holy Spirit. Throughout our lives, we may influence people, witness others coming to Jesus, and maybe lead others to a God-loving life. However, there seems to be something missing. That is, the Holy Spirit. At the end of this chapter, I will write out notes from church today, and I encourage you to glance at the noted passages.
In modern day society, we're told how to live, how to eat, what diet we should be on, etc. But have you considered how God tells you to live? Probably not as much as you consider your peers.
With pressure being pushed upon you every day by society, it's hard not to fall into Satan's traps. We all do at some point in our lives, and when we get caught in these traps, the Holy Spirit within us is slowly drained out of our souls.
How do we reignite the spark of the Holy Spirit in our lives? We pray, repent, recognize our unworthiness, and work toward our spiritual goal.
Some of you might say, "Well, I'm a Christian, so I have the Holy Spirit." This is a false accusation if you don't feel the presence of God. Having the Holy Spirit within you means feeling God leading you along the path of life, feeling Jesus as he comforts and forgives you, and feeling the Holy Spirit as it floods through your soul, body, and mind.
When you ask God for help, you acknowledge him and his presence. When you give him the situation, you place complete trust in him.
I know that trusting God completely may seem a bit hard at times, and so does swallowing your pride and humbling yourself. But in the end, it's all worth it.
So, here's today's church notes:
"Be perfect, therefore, as your heavenly Father is perfect."
Whatever Happened to Holiness? (Hebrews 13:12)
- Lack of absolute truth
- Lack of biblical preaching on sin
- Lack of commitment to the mission
- Lack of Christ-centered churches
How Do We Recapture The Holiness Message? (Revelation 1:17)
- Recognize our unworthiness. (1 John 1:15)
- Repent of our sinfulness.
- Seek heart purity
(1 Thessalonians 5:23-24)
- Return to the spirit-filled life
- Commit to separated living
- Glorify God for who he is
Why is Holiness So Important?
- Because Christ died for it
- Because it prepares us for Heaven
