For a few moments, Duffy had to wonder if she was dreaming or if there was some sort of prank being played on her, however, it would have to be an extremely elaborate prank to have the President of MACUSA as part of it. Samuel wore no smile on his face, his expression completely stoic, which was far different from when she had entered the room with Abhaya. It was only then that she noted the stressful look in his dark eyes and his words fully registered in her head.
"Sir?" she began before clearing her throat as her voice cracked slightly, only to started again in a stronger tone. "Sir, you're suggesting that I break the International Statute of Secrecy under what circumstances?"
Samuel invited her to sit with a wave of his arm in the direction of one of the chairs and Duffy practically staggered over and she slowly lowered herself into the seat. He seated himself behind his desk and folded his hands on top, his eyes focusing on his fingers that twitched every so slightly.
"We rarely intervene with No-Maj affairs," he began, " you are aware of that, Ms Dagny. We have normally interfered if it's a threat on our end that threatens their world or if a threat on their end that threatens ours. Right now, we are facing the latter. A threat has been reported on their end, one that's highly unusual and dangerous. We have some of our MACUSA astronomers stationed in NASA to overlook what is taking place and monitor the activity and they reported that the No-Majs have been researching an item that very well might be over their heads, and ours."
He moved forward a classified forward towards Duffy, allowing her to open and look through the captured photos that had been taking.
"What is this?" Duffy asked peering down at the pictures of the glowing blue light. "I've never seen anything like it-"
"The astronomers believe it to be otherworldly," Samuel interrupted her, " and the No-Majs have named it the Tesseract. From our understanding, it's a source of energy, possibly a gateway of some sort, but what it is fully capable of, I couldn't tell you, Ms Dagny. What I do know is that it is the source of the problem now."
"How so?"
Samuel reached out and continued to flip through the photos until he came upon one that left Duffy questioning plenty.
"Well, just a short while ago, this was captured before we lost several MACUSA members."
Duffy stared at the moving photograph that showed a man moving about slowly, a slight grin to his features as he dawned emerald green robes paired with shoulder-length black hair. In his hand, he seemed to wield a sceptre, leaving Duffy with a bewildered expression as she pushed the photograph away from her.
"Who the hell is that and what is he wearing?" She had once scoffed at her own people for the outdated robes that they would wear around without shame, but what they wore was nothing compared to the man in the photo.
"As of right now, we can only view him as a danger as he now possesses the Tesseract and that could mean terrible news not only for the No-Majs but our people as well, Ms Dagny. Which is why I have called you in as the No-Majs are assembling a team to take down this person and retrieve the Tesseract. I need you to be on that team and see that it is done, we cannot rely solely on the No-Majs to ensure that the job will be completed. We don't want any more casualties as we lost several stationed members during the initial attack."
