Who is she?
Who is that girl?
The girl that falls into bed with the bitter taste of coffee lingering still on her tongue
The girl who doesn't sleep
The girl who doesn't want to sleep
The girl who lies
The girl who lies when she says "yes, I'll sleep soon"
The girl who lies when she assures "I'm feeling sleepy myself, how about we both sleep? I can tell you're tired."
The girl who lies when her friends worry
"Yes, I slept by 1."
"Yes, I'm okay"
"Yes, I'm healthy"
She doesn't want to worry others
She loves others too much for that
It's not their fault she hates sleep
Why should they suffer too?
Why should anyone suffer?
Anyone at all?
Why should she suffer?
Why does he coffee linger on her tongue yet it be 3am
Why should she awaken so tired?
Why shaint she sleep?
Why?

Why?
Because she's lost
She wanders at night. Wonders, wanders, lost in wonder.

She hates sleep

She has no fear of sleep
The nightmares don't scare her
They haven't since she was young
The thing that scares her
Is that she will never be herself
if she can't be alone
She hates sleep because when she sleeps she has to wake
And when she wakes she is not her own
She is only her own in the night
When all is calm
When all is quiet
When no one is there to taunt her
To beckon her
To beg her for attention
To harm her for their gain
She hates the exhaustion
but she loves the night
She loves the freedom
There are no expectations in the night
Here in the nights, she is a creature of wonder
She does not sleep
She does not worry
She barely exists
She is happy
She is free
She is tired, yet, she is.

In the nights she is one of her own
She is her one and her own
In the night she is herself
