Carlos awoke the next morning to aggressive yelling.
"What the hell do you mean we need a break?!" Audrey yelled.
Carlos opened his eyes to see Audrey in Jay's face at the doorway of their room.
"We need a break, Audrey. I have to think about some things. I have to think about us," Jay replied to her, calmly. Audrey frowned to Jay upon hearing this.
"What is there to think about? We're fine."
"You may think we're fine," Jay paused, sighing heavily. "But we're not."
Audrey looked to Jay in disbelief. Her mouth opened to say something, but she couldn't register what to say. Instead, she turned away from Jay and ran down the hall away from the room. Jay shook his head before closing the room door. He turned around and immediately met eyes with Carlos, who was now sitting up in his bed.
"How much of that did you hear?" Jay asked.
"Enough." Carlos replied to him.
"I'm sorry we woke you up."
Carlos shook his head. "No, it's fine. What time is it?"
Jay looked across the room to the clock on their wall. "Nine thirty-six."
Carlos groaned, moving to get up from his bed. "I'm late for my first class."
"Then... just skip it. And stay here with me."
Carlos looked over to Jay, quirking a brow curiously. "With you?"
Jay nodded. "Yeah. We could play some video games or something. Or maybe I could even help you with your swimming lessons again."
Carlos turned his head to his binder, then back to Jay. Considering his options, he nodded to Jay. He knew Jay needed the support after the breakup, but Jay would never admit anything like that.
"Alright, I'll skip with you. But just this once."
Jay grinned to Carlos and walked over to him, giving him a slight nudge on his shoulder.
"Alright then. Get up so we can figure out what to do until eleven."
Carlos smiled to the other, getting out of the bed. He stretched, and then walked over to their dorm bathroom to get ready.

After getting dressed, Carlos returned to their room where Jay was waiting patiently for him.
"Have you decided what you wanna do?" Jay asked.
Carlos thought to himself for a moment, and then nodded. "I wanna try swimming again. Even though I'm still traumatized since last time, I trust you."
Jay smirked slightly to the other and stood from his bed. "Then, let's go."

It only took them about 15 minutes to reach the Enchanted Lake, which was a few miles away from the school. When the pair arrived, they got undressed as usual. Soon, they were both standing above the lake on a cliff in nothing but their underwear.
"I know you can do it," Jay said, in an attempt to reassure the other.
Carlos turned to Jay and smiled a bit. His words were definitely soothing to hear.
"Thanks for the vote of confidence," Carlos said to the other, before gesturing to the lake below them. "Can you go first?"
Jay nodded in response to the other. "Of course. I'll meet you down there."
With that, Jay leaped off of the cliff, and dived down into the water. His head remained submerged for a few seconds, before popping out from the surface of the water.
Carlos took a deep breath as he prepared to jump into the water. He stared down at Jay, who was giving him a double thumbs up. Carlos smiled once more to him, now holding his breath, before leaping off of the rock. Carlos focused on the water as he leaped, aiming to dive next to Jay. Fortunately for him, he was able to dive right next to Jay, splashing him with water.
Carlos held his breath as he was underwater, and focused on bringing his body upward. However, he wasn't able to gain the momentum to pull himself to the surface. Before he could begin to panic, he felt a pair of muscular arms wrap around him from behind, and pull him up to the surface.
As he resurfaced, Carlos turned his body to face the other.
"I almost had it, Jay," he argued.
Jay grinned as he continued to hold his arms around the other in the water.
"No, I'm pretty sure you didn't," he replied.
Jay was right— he didn't have it. But Carlos would never admit that.
"I'll let you have your own opinion, even though it's wrong," Carlos replied.
Carlos was now smiling to the other again. He couldn't help but stare Jay in the eyes. Their bodies were so close together, that their chests were almost touching.
Jay stared back into the other's eyes, a grin still on his face.
"So, you're trying to tell me if I would've never got you from down there, you wouldn't be flailing underwater right now?"
Carlos' mind spaced out as the other spoke. His gaze drifted to Jay's lips. Carlos exhaled nervously, before giving in to his emotions. All of his temptations escaped his body in this one moment. He closed his eyes, and leaned forward to kiss the other.
