Sydney got in next to me and buckled up, reminding me that I should too.
"Whatever you say, Tam." She said as she geared the car into motion.
As I relaxed in my seat I realized we were basically crashing a party. Don't take me wrong because I've been to parties, but the difference was I was actually invited. I wasn't going to worry much though.
"We need to go pick up Jess now." Sydney instructed.
"Actually, he has a date." I admitted.
I felt the car swerve slightly, making me clutch the bottom of my chair.
"W-what?" Sydney stammered while taking control of the wheel again.
I still had the sense to keep an eye on her. "I set him up with this girl Natalie we met. She's nice and Jess seems to like her. "
"Why would you do that!" Sydney yelled. Her grip on the steering wheel loosened, and was a second away from letting go completely.
My eyes widened.
"Chill, Syd! And pay attention to your driving! " I reached over and closed her hands tightly onto the black leather circular thing that controls our lives.
I never thought she would take the news badly.
She composed herself by blowing out a deep breath.
"Sorry, it's just surprising is all. Did they meet after the makeover or before?" She calmly asked.
"Before. It was the day we went to your house. We ended up going to the park, and I spotted Natalie there. I urged Jess to talk to her, and they instantly clicked."
"Lovely." Sydney deadpanned.
I was surprised Sydney was acting so differently. All I could think was: What is up with her? After analyzing her behavior repeatedly, only one reason came up.
My blue eyes started twinkling, a silly feeling churned in my stomach, and my face contorted into a I-know-whats-going-on-here look, that undeniably resembled Sponge Bob's face when he discovered Squidward likes crabby patties.
I poked her in her side and snickered. "Sydneyyyy are you jeloussss?" I sung sweetly.
The car swerved a bit for a second time and momentarily wiped the cheeky grin off my face. But I decided to disregard the carelessness this time.
"W-what? No, Tammie I'm not." She glanced over at me for a second. "And stop with the creepy face."
"Don't change the subject, girly."
"Well, don't let your whacko brain make any assumptions. I was just surprised because that was nerdy Jess at the time, and now he's-"
"Hot." I finished teasingly.
She shot me a warning look, but I didn't miss the reddening of her cheeks. "You know what? Just drop it. And by the way we're here."
I turned my head to the window to see we were parked on a street packed with cars. I could definitively tell we ,in fact, arrived at our destination. All the houses in the surrounding area were massive, and screamed I'm as rich as Angelina Jolie.
I exited the vehicle, but I wasn't going to forget this matter. "I'll drop it.......for now."
I switched my attention to finding the right house. My eyes almost bulged when they landed on the place we were obviously looking for.
A couple of doors down was probably the grandest house of them all. I was transfixed with the gigantic, -scratch that- colossal mansion ahead. That was indeed Nadine's home, since bright lights, and loud music were coming directly from the premises. I was wondering if police would show up.
