❝ rain ❞
THE couple laid on their sunbeds while sunbathing. Jihae watched some kids and few couples playing with water not so far from them. The private beach wasn't crowded at all.
"Jungkook, let's go and play." She poked his arms, who was laying on the bed beside her. He simply shook his head and turned to the other direction.
Jihae sighed and stood up. "Jungkook, I'm hungry." She shook his body which made him immediately turn around.
"For me?" He raised his eyebrows. She was flustered by his words but she shrugged away and pulled his left ear.
"AAAAAAAH!" Jungkook shouted and followed her since he was also hungry. "Let's go." She pulled him to the nearby food place.
They both ate until their stomachs were satisfied. And after they were done, they walked back to their beds but Jihae pulled him toward the sea.
Jihae was about to splash his face with water when he walked away, leaving her dumbfounded, so she sprinkled the water in the air.
And she had no option but to play by herself, more like awkwardly kick the water alone. She couldn't help but glance at the guy who was writing a name in the sand.
The guy stood there staring at the name he just wrote in the sand, but soon sea water swept the name away. A tear rolled down his cheek as he loosened his grip on the ring and stared at it for a while before throwing into the water.
And it was gone. No doubt that he wanted to go and find the ring again but he decided to let go this time. "Jungkook." Jihae walked to him but she slipped, resulting in her butt to land on the sand.
Her clumsiness brought a smile on his face and he wiped his tears so that she would not notice him crying again. "You're so clumsy," he teased her instead.
"Who? I'm just sitting here," she said and patted the space beside her. "You too come," She called her. Jungkook walked and sat down beside her.
"Jungkook," she called his name. He hummed in response. "You know you can share everything with me," she spoke and he understood what was she implying to.
There was a long silence until he finally spoke. "That night. It was my fault," he sighed.
"Shhh!" He shushed her and tears started to well up in his eyes again. Jihae silently listened to him while staring at his lips.
"Only I know how hurt she was after listening to my words. She was crying when she walked across the road because of me," he said and tears rolled down her eyes.
Someone wiped his tears away, he looked at the person. "Promise me that you'll stop blaming yourself," she said. Jungkook had no idea what to say, so he stayed silent.
"This is the first time I'm asking something from you. Promise me," she said again. He slightly smiled and nodded his head. "Now smile." Her words made his smile wider.
The couple hugged their knees and stared at a couple splashing water to each other. "I just realized that I don't know anything about you except for your name," he started, making her chuckle.
"What do you want to know?" she asked in amazement. "Your hobbies, favorites, and umm.. everything," he said nervously.
They spent the rest of their time on the beach getting to know about each other. The sun was slowly going down indicating that they should go back to the hotel.
"Today was fun." Jihae linked her arms around his. This time he was one who got flustered by her action, "Yeah." And they both walked back to their hotel.
While waiting for the elevator to arrive, Jihae suddenly spoke. "Let's go and eat street foods," she said. "No." Jungkook instantly rejected.
The elevator arrived and Jungkook walked in, but Jihae stood there like a statue. No plans to move at all. "Aren't you coming?" he asked and she shook his head. Jungkook looked at the people around him awkwardly.
"Are you seriously doing this?" he spoke in a low voice enough for her to hear him. She nodded her head, making him facepalm.
Jungkook sighed before he walked out and Jihae happily grabbed his arm before wrapping her arm around his.
The couple walked to the best street food market. "Are street foods healthy?" Jungkook asked her, this was his first time for him to eat street foods.
"I did research, this is the best market here," she said in excitement.
After the foods were ready, Jihae started eating but Jungkook hesitated to eat. She elbowed him and raised her eyebrows. "Nothing." He shook his head and hesitantly took a bite.
Only one bite was enough for him to forget about his health. The foods were that delicious. Miran used to ask him to go to these kinds of places sometimes but he always used to reject her. Now he regretted rejecting her.
After they finished eating, "Let's buy some to eat at night," Jungkook said, making her chuckle. "I'm already full, aren't you?" she asked.
"I'm also full but what if I get hungry in the middle of the night?" he said, making Jihae and the owner of the stall chuckle.
Jungkook was so stubborn that he ended up buying some for the night before they left the place.
A drop of rain hit her nose followed by another, which continued. People started running to their places. Jungkook pulled her to a nearby place with a roof.
They waited, waited and waited but the rain got heavier. There wasn't a single person left in the place because of heavy rain. "How will we go back now?" Jihae asked worriedly.
Jungkook looked at the jacket he was wearing and it was waterproof. "Why didn't I think of this before?" he facepalmed. He took off his jacket and placed it over her head. "What are you doing?" she tried to remove the jacket.
"This is waterproof," he said while the jacket was still over her head. "Jungkook, we can cover our heads with this jacket," she said.
"I'm taller than you for that." He made her wear the jacket and also the cloud cap while he was only in a thin T-shirt. They walked in the rain and Jihae was worried about him. "Please let's share," she tried to convince him.
"You'll get wet if we do."
Jungkook hugged her tightly and they walked in the rain. No matter how many times she tried to convince him, he was too stubborn to even listen to her.
And they finally reached the hotel but Jungkook was already soaked in rain. "You'll get sick," she said. He took off the jacket from her and wore it while shivering. "At least you will not," he said with a smile.
They both walked to the elevator and went to their suite. Both of them recently started having weird feelings whenever they were with each other. But Jihae had no idea what the feelings were even.
As soon as they entered the suite, Jungkook threw the jacket and ran to grab a towel to take a warm shower. Then he walked into the bathroom and locked the door from inside and sighed.
Something was bothering him recently. The feelings were weird but not unfamiliar. And they were similar to a few years back.
"This is not okay."
