I sat down, staring at Alexander. I muttered curses under my breath.

"Uh.. (Y/N), can we talk?" Burr cleared his throat.

"What? Yeah sure." I sighed.

"Elizabeth is back from their holiday." He stared right into my eyes.

"Yes, and?" I looked back at Alexander, focusing my glare on him.

"You cannot tell her." He huffed, holding my wrist.

"I know." I pulled my arm away from him, releasing me from his grasp.

"Promise me." He furrowed his brows.

"You can trust me, Burr." I turned my back, sitting back down next to my husband.

"I trust you." He whispered.

I took Georges from Laf, swaying him often so he could fall asleep.

Laf smiled at the baby, his eyes glimmering in the light. His pupils were dilated, and it calmed down my nerves.

"You really love him." I tipped Laf's head up to look at me.

"I love him as I love you." He rested his hand on mine.

"Good morning." He sat down, arranging his files.

"Good morning." Everyone answered, making him look up.

"Everyone is here already?" He looked around.

"We're missing Madison, sir." Laf cleared his throat.

"Oh, James can't attend. He's ill." Thomas crossed his legs, fidgeting with a pen on the table.

"Okay, so we must begin without him." Washington boomed.

Alexander moved his chair, now sitting beside Washington.

"fuck you." I mumbled. Laf's brows furrowed.

"You got in a fight with Alexander?" He smiles reassuringly.

"Um, it's.." I turned to Burr for help, then turned back. He shook his head.

"Yes, a little." I stuttered.

"How--" He cut himself off.

"I won't even ask." He leaned back into his chair, listening to the words coming out of Washington's mouth.

I giggled, my gaze still focused on Alexander. He looked at me.

I didn't remove my stare until Washington cleared his throat.

"Jefferson, you have the floor, sir." He gestured to the Secretary of State.
