Last day in India, even the thought of that made Anika's heart heavy. There's a fun fact about our human mind, it's so innocent that it always hopes for the good when deep down the heart we know that's not possible. Same thing happened with Anika, deep down her heart she knew that Asha and Vijay won't forgive her and talk to her, but still, her mind hoped that they would. For the sake of that single ray of hope, she summoned all the courage and made her way towards the kitchen just to find Asha busy cooking.
"Mom, give it to me,", Anika said trying to take the knife from Asha who was cutting tomatoes. "I'll finish this part. You go and take rest."
But to Anika's disappointment, Asha ignored Anika's words and continued with her work. And that scattered all of Anika's courage within seconds. Asha had become like her own mother in those past two months. She used to care for Anika as her mother used to do. And hurting her mother was something Anika always hated to do. She wanted to cry out aloud, hug her mother-in-law, apologize to her and say so many things trying to explain her calmly about Nirav's decision, but she couldn't speak even a single word. She stood there frozen at that place staring at nothing in particular. Nirav entered the kitchen.
"There you are! I have been searching for you in the entire house. C'mon lets go. We are getting late.", saying this, he pulled her out of the kitchen and Asha stared behind them sternly.
As they were about to leave the house, Vijay called from behind. "We are going to visit my brother for two days, so no one would be home. Take the keys with you."
Nirav did as he was instructed. He grabbed the keys and went downstairs with Anika.
"Why are they going all of a sudden?", she questioned.
"Uncle might have called them. Leave it."
Without stretching the topic ahead, she quietly followed Nirav. She was shocked to see that usually, Nirav who always preferred traveling by car pulled out his bike that day. He ignited the engine and asked Anika to hop on. She did as she was told. As they hit the road, Anika asked, "Why all of a sudden bike today?"
"No reason. I love bike rides rather than sitting in that closed car."
"So what's the plan for today?", she asked.
"Plan? Haven't really thought of it. How about we roam around the city in this beautiful weather on my bike?"
"Sounds great.", she chirped in excitement.
