I couldn't sleep, after seeing Summer and Ravens' kids I just couldn't. I remember spending four years trying to get Raven to see me as a man and trying to woo Summer over, both of which clearly failed. It would have been nice if Ozpin let me keep in contact with some of the students after they graduated, but he keeps saying that it's for the best, I don't believe him. Despite my brains' efforts to keep me awake, I managed to get a few hours of sleep in before I went off to Beacon Cliff and waited for Ozpin and Goodwitch.

Every year it was the same thing, launch students into a forest full of Grimm, watch them nearly die, they get the relic, and act all tough about it. If I ever see Blaze again I'm punching him in the face for old times' sake. They took their sweat time but Ozpin and Goodwitch finally showed up, I was sitting on the ground with my legs crossed, my katana leaning against my shoulder. Ozpin had a smirk on his face that I would love to remove, but the last thing I need is for him to restrict anymore of my freedoms.

(F/N): "If it isn't the wonderful wizard and the amazing Goodwitch. Ready for another year of traumatizing students? I know I am." Goodwitch sighed and pushed up her glasses.

Glynda: "Wouldn't you prefer to go back to Beacon and wait for Velvet and her team?"

(F/N): "And miss Ruby and Yang fighting Grimm? I think not, I want to see what they've been taught."

Ozpin: "As long as you don't cause any trouble you may stay."

The three of us didn't do much talking, really we were just waiting for the students to arrive and get on their platforms. I was still sitting on the ground with Ozpin standing to my left, with Goodwitch to the left of him. I smiled and waved to Ruby, but once Goodwitch and Ozpin spoke up I turned my attention to him.

Ozpin: "For years you have trained to become warriors. And today, your abilities will be evaluated in the Emerald Forest."

Glynda: "Now, I'm sure many of you have heard rumors about the assignment of teams. Well, allow us to put an end to your confusion. Each of you will be given teammates...today."

Ruby: "What? Aw..."

Ozpin: "These teammates will be with you for the rest of your time here at Beacon. So, it is in your best interest to be paired with someone with whom you work well with. That being said, the first person you make eye contact with after landing will be your partner for the next four years."

Ruby: "What!?!" I couldn't help but snicker, I remember Summer being nervous when she went through initiation.

Ozpin: "After you've partnered up, make your way to the northern end of the forest. You will meet opposition along the way. Do not hesitate to destroy everything in your path, or you will die. You will be monitored and graded for the duration of your initiation. But our instructors will not intervene. You will find an abandoned temple at the end of the path containing several relics. Each pair must choose one and return to the top of the cliff. We will regard that item, as well as your standing, and grade you appropriately. Are there any questions?"

(F/N): I raise my hand. "Oh, I do!"

Ozpin: "Yes (F/N)?"

(F/N): "Can I go with them and kill some Grimm?"

Weiss: "A child like you should-" In the blink of an eye I was standing in front of her with my blade against her neck.

(F/N): "Goodwitch gave you a warning! I suggest you heed it before you finish that sentence you spoiled Swine!"

Ozpin: "You may enter the Emerald Forest (F/N)."

Glynda: "Sir!"

Ozpin: "Under the condition that you stay with Ms. Schnee for the duration of the initiation." I return my blade to its scabbard.
