"I never thought I would be back here." I say, referring to the training center I walk into.

Peeta nods agreeing with me. I shouldn't be back in here. I should have either died in the games last year or won and never come back. Unfortunately, Snow has a different idea in mind.

"I'm going over to the throwing station. Good luck." Peeta informs me before leaving me at the entrance.

I don't even know where to begin. I grab a sword from the rack and enter the simulation, setting the level to hard. Once I finish my round, I see that I've gained quite the crowd. I bow and walk past the crowd ignoring the attention and the comments they make.

"Well that certainly was impressive." Finnick Odair whispers in my ear. If it weren't for my keen senses I would have jumped.

"It wasn't meant to be." I say honestly.

I walk over to the knot tying station where Finnick seems to have followed me. I try to make the simplest of knots and find that I am struggling with even that.

"Need some help?" Finnick asks after watching me struggle for a few minutes.

"Yes please." I huff out of annoyance and pass him the rope that was previously in my hands.

He turns his arms so we are facing the same way and walks me through it step by step. After a few tries I am able to replicate a few of the knots that Finnick shows me.

"You want to see the most important knot of the game?" He asks with a mischievous grin.

I roll my eyes but nod regardless.

"Don't look at me, look at the knot." Finnick says with the most charming laugh I think I've ever heard.

He wraps the rope over itself before pulling it through one more final time. He's managed to make a noose.

"That's not funny." I cross my arms over my chest.

"It wasn't meant to be." He sticks his head through the hole that he's made.

"Do you have that secret for me yet?" He asks, referring to what he said at the parade the day before.

"I'll keep you posted."

I turn and walk away from the golden boy and he lets me leave.

I don't talk to Finnick again until a few days have passed and it's the interview night.

"Well don't you clean up well, especially for someone from Twelve." A voice calls out to me.

"It's a shame that with all the luxuries of One, you can't even look half as good." I smirk and watch Cashmere stomp away in a fury.

"Ouch, you're out for blood." Finnick pauses to laugh, "You do realize the games don't start until tomorrow?"

"She was asking for it." I cross my arms over my chest.

"I never said she wasn't." He takes a few steps closer, "How have things been going for you?"

"I scored a twelve." I informed, as if he didn't already know. "I actually couldn't have done it without you."

"Little old me? How so?" He grins.

I smile and shake me head.

"I may have made a noose during my portion." I shrug acting innocent.

"Really? Wow, last year you shot at them and this year you threatened them. No wonder they want you back in the arena." He shakes his head in disbelief.

"I guess I'll just have to dazzle the people during interviews." I gesture with my head to the stage not too far away from us.

"It won't be too hard." He smirks. "You got that secret for me yet?"

"I do actually." Finally it's my turn to grin.

"Well then let's hear it."

"I like you, Finnick Odair." I lean forward and peck my lips lightly on his. I don't even give him a second to react before pushing him to the stage, his turn was sooner than he thought.

It doesn't take Finnick long to fall right in stride and walk up to Caesar. He hugs him and whispers something in his ear before the sit down for the interview. Caesar asks him some basic questions until he get to the end.

"Finnick, I understand that you have a message for somebody out there, a special somebody." Caesar lets out his infamous laugh, "Can we hear it?"

Finnick nods and pauses to swallow. He looks to the side off camera and we make eye contact. I can't help but smirk at him under the Capitol's eye.

"My love, you have my heart for all eternity. If I die in that arena, my last thought will be of your lips." He finally breaks the eye contact and walks off stage. I stay on the sidelines as we go through a few more tribute's interviews.

"What did you think?" Finnick asks as he walks over.

"I think you made a few girls faint." I pull back the curtain to gesture to the women passed out from the Finnick Odair's declaration.

Finnick peeks around my shoulder to see and lets out a chuckle.

"Well, you seem to still be standing." He whispers softly in my ear.

"For now." I whisper back without thinking. Finnick's eyebrows raise at how suggestive that sounded.

"(Y/n) (L/n)." Caesar's voice bellows out.

"Saved by the bell." Finnick smirks, I just bite my lip in response before leaving him for the stage.
