(A/N: I'm almost finished with this series, just one more chapter and I'm wrapping this story up. There might be a sequel depending on how I decide to write the final chapter. Please tell me if you think I should write a sequel cause I'm seriously debating on it right now)
Today was the day. That's right, today was the final day. The very final day, day seven. Yesterday, Joshua and I made a promise.
Flashback
"Hey Joshua, I'm still little worried that we won't be able to beat the game master," I said. "Do you not trust me?" Joshua asked. "Well you are my partner, of course I trust you. It's just that I'm a little concerned," I said. "How about this, let's make a deal. I promise you that you'll make it out here alive," Joshua said grasped and clenched onto my hands. "Really? But, what about you?" I asked. "Well, let's assume you made the most amount points, I'll have to replay this game. Just wait for me. Vice versa if I have the most amount of points," Joshua said. "Got it, If it's for you I'm willing to wait forever," I said. "You sound like you've fallen for me," Joshua said. "Stop saying that, you know that I wouldn't fall for someone like you," I said. "I just think of you as a really good friend, that's all," I said.
End of Flashback
Since when did I actually start to take a liking to Joshua? Yesterday? It's strange why do I feel like, I've felt this way before I realized it.
Joshua was asleep on the cement ground. Well, at least I think he was. He may have been pretending to be asleep. A cold breeze traveled. Leaves drifted with the cool breeze. When the wind calmed down, a leaf landed on Joshua's hair. I picked the leaf off of his hair and brushed off the dirt and dust that got onto Joshua's face. "Nnngh," Joshua groaned softly. I saw Joshua squinting his eyelids.
Is Joshua having some sort of nightmare?
Joshua's eyelid's slowly opened. He rubbed his eyes and sat up. "(Y/n), you were staring at me~ You know all you have to do is admi-" I had subconsciously slapped Joshua out of reflexes but, didn't regret my actions one bit. "Ouch, you didn't have to slap me," he whined. "Oh shut up," I said. "More importantly, are you ready to fight against the game master?" I asked. "I don't know, are you?" he asked.
There he goes avoiding and throwing my questions back at me.
"I think after yesterday, I'm better than I can ever be," I smiled.
BEEP
I opened my phone knowing it couldn't be anything else but the mission mail.
Erase the game master at Shibuya River. You have 500 minutes, fail and face erasure- The Reapers
"Shibuya river? That place that was blocked the other day?" I asked unsure. "Seems so, shall we get going?" Joshua said. "Sure, let's go," I said.
Joshua and I dashed our way over Shibuya river. We saw another pair of players sprinting their way to Shibuya river as well. One of the players gave a face that said, 'We're not letting you get ahead.' "Hey Josh, they seem to want to go on first. What should we do?" I asked. "Why not let them," he said. "You sure?" I asked for confirmation. "I don't see why not, I doubt they can defeat the game master," he said. "True enough," I said. We slowed down our pace. When we got there all we heard was loud yelling.
"Why tin pin!! Can't it be something else??" the player from before yelled. "Sorry, rules are rules. And this is my rule," a support reaper said. Joshua walked up to them,"What's going on?" The support reaper turned to face Joshua. "This dude refuses to play Tin Pin with me. They can't pass the wall if they don't defeat me," he said. "Wait you mean you're able to take down this wired cage thing with this noise sign on it?" I asked. "That's right, only if you defeat me in Tin Pin, just saying but I ranked forth in the last Tin Pin tournament that was held," he bragged. "Joshua, step aside I'll play against this reaper," I said.
A few minutes later
"Someone like you could never beat me! Better luck next time," I said. "No way, how can you better than me at Tin Pin?" the reaper asked. "You picked the wrong opponent," I said. "I didn't expect you to be so good at Tin Pin," Joshua said. "I happened to play Tin Pin a lot when I was alive. I'm still not as good as that Tin Pin champion though," I said. "And who was that?" Joshua asked. "His name was, Neku Sakuraba. I entered the Tin Pin tournament and made it to the final round. I was up against Neku. In the end he won though. He wasn't really remembered. Even though Tin Pin is so popular, he wasn't even in any of the pages in those weekly magazines called, Pinhead Weekly. I guess that's why only the people there at the tournament are the only ones that are going to remember him. I kind of admire him and how he's so so good at Tin Pin," I said. "I see, you're pretty into it, aren't you," Joshua said. "Well sort of," I said.
"Well it looks like those other players went on ahead should we catch up?" Joshua suggested. I nodded. "Yeah, just in case we need time," I said. Joshua and I ran over and managed to catch up. When we made it, we saw the players slowly fading away.
Looks like they couldn't make it..
