Tonks was unsure of whether she was supposed to be happy for Ringo or suspicious about his intentions when it came to the sudden developing friendship between him and Lyris Orpington. She honestly didn't know much about the girl, but that was because Lyris was the type that normally kept to herself or at least, that's what Tonks assumed. Lyris could normally be seen in the corridors, sitting by herself whether it was reading or just staring off into the distance. She was normally never really seen with other students, even on Hogsmeade trips, she was usually wandering around by herself. She seemed to be a nice enough sort but there was obviously something that caused other students to avoid her. When Tonks asked Charlie what he knew of the girl in his House, he gave a simple yet polite response.

"Lyris is unique, " he said, " I think that is the perfect word for her. I think a lot of people don't know what to make of unique souls so they avoid it. But she's incredibly nice, just different."

"How though? What is the uniqueness?" Tonks asked out of curiosity.

"Well, for starters, I know Lyris has a tendency to sit in front of the fire and stare at it for quite some time, she also runs her fingers back and forth against the stone of the fireplace. She's smiling while she does it so I'm assuming it makes her happy. I mean, that usually is fine, no one bothers her for that but you remember when I told you that Snape yelled at her in class last year?"

Tonks tried to recall the moment but shook her head half the time she tried not to pay attention to anything involving Professor Snape if she could help it.

"The tapping," Charlie said, tapping his finger against the table over and over, " she kept doing it until Professor Snape yelled at her. It happened several times, even after Professor Snape gave her detention, and eventually, he just kicked her out of the class for the day."

"Why didn't she just stop tapping on the table?" Tonks questioned. "Why would you want to piss Professor Snape off?"

"Tonks, I don't think she could help it. I mean, we all saw upset she was getting with him yelling at her, but that only made her do it more and louder. She was actually crying by the end of it all before she was kicked out."

"So she has uncontrollable tapping?"

"Well, she never did it in Snape's class again, " Charlie told her, " but I still see her in the Common Room sometimes tapping in front of the fireplace. I don't know what it is, but it seems soothing to her. It's like when you're listening to a really good song and you just feel the need to tap your foot to it, well, I think for Lyris, it's like she's always surrounded by the music of the world around her, and she has to do something about it."

It was quiet for a moment while Tonks was processing the information, stealing a glancing over in the direction where Lyris was sitting with Ringo in her company. She was talking about something, but she wasn't even looking at him as she spoke. Instead, her hand trailed over the cover of her book back and forth, it looked as though she was tracing the lettering of the title.
