CHAPTER SEVENTEEN
( major arcana, part i )

Alec couldn't remember the last time he'd shared a bed with someone. Then again, he wasn't the biggest fan of people being so close to him as he slept. When they were kids, he would always get annoyed at Isabelle when she would crept up into his bed in the middle of the night.

But even with Jax's muscular arm draped over his stomach whilst the werewolf's head found a comfortable spot in his neck, he couldn't help but feel content. As if this how they were meant to be.

Alec titled his head to the slightly, careful not the wake the sleeping werewolf. He had been staring at Jax for quite some time now and he found himself glancing down at Jax's slightly parted lips. The same lips he kissed last night.

Unconsciously, a small smile grew on Alec's face as he replayed last night's events in his head. The memory of Jax kissing him was as clear as the day. Jax actually kissed him. And he kissed him back. The simple thought was enough to make the Shadowhunter as giddy as a teenage girl with a crush. The rest of the night was a blur, filled with ridiculous late night conversations and some of Magnus' margaritas that the two may or may not have drank a bit too much.

He couldn't fanthom the exact time they fell asleep, or how they managed to get tangled up in this position. But for a brief moment,
he just laid there, enjoying the feel of being in Jax's arms. And as much as he wanted to stay there for a few more minutes, hell maybe even longer, he needed to get back to the Institute before someone noticed that he didn't return last night.

Getting away from a sleeping werewolf wasn't easy as one may think. Luckily, Jax wasn't a light sleeper. But he did have a strong grip.

"Mhm.." Jax mumbled in his sleep just when Alec had managed to get one of his feet off the bed. The werewolf stirred but then let out a small hum of approval as Alec quickly leaned back to his embrace.

Alec heaved a sigh. Looks like he's going to show up late at the Institute anyways.

At this time of the hour, the Institute was bustling with Shadowhunters and the tapping of screens as everyone busied around trying to finish their own respective duties. Much like everybody else, Isabelle Lightwood was doing the same. But the young Lightwood didn't need to turn around from the computer screen to know that her brother was trying to sneak into the Institute behind her back.

"Busy with a certain werewolf last night?" Isabelle asked in a not so innocent tone, causing the older Shadowhunter to halt in his steps. Isabelle hasn't seen or even heard anything from him ever since the incident at the Jade Wolf, although she had her own suspicions on where, or rather with whom, her brother had spent his night.
