Martha's jaw almost dropped the floor as a gasped escaped her lips.
What?
"Were you the one who sent me the rose and left a note to meet here?" She asked hoping a no for an answer.
"Yes. It's me." He answered briefly.
"Oh." Were the only words escaped her lips even though she wanted to say more.
"Why?" She asked.
"I was just wondering that... um... maybe..." he trailed.
She gave him a look telling him to continue.
To say he was nervous was an understatement.
"I was just wondering if maybe we could hangout sometime." He said hoping a no for an answer.
He didn't want to do it but since he was already there, there is no backing out now with a thought that maybe, just maybe, she could help him move on.
"S-s-sure..." she stuttered, mentally cursing herself because of her answer.
She wanted to say no, but she already said yes. There is no backing out now.
