"I'm Magnus," Magnus said as he extended his arm to shake hands with the raven haired beauty. The boy met Magnus' hand with his and scoffed "I'm Alec." Magnus smiled genuinely and said "I'm really sorry." the boy suddenly blushed and looked perplexed, "No, it-it's m-my f-fault, I w-wasn't p-paying a-attention." Alec said quickly and looked down. "Well, I'm glad to see we are both sorry, what's your first class, Alec?" Magnus said, emphasizing his name. The boy looked down at his phone and said, "Biology with Mr. Garroway." Alec said, with growing confidence. Alec licked his lips and Magnus smiled, "That's my first class too! You'll love Mr. Garroway! He's spilling all the tea." Magnus winked and he took Alec by surprise. Alec rubbed the back of his neck and licked his lips again, "Um, c-could y-you show me to locker 507?" Alec said nervously. Magnus suddenly forgot about where he was off to in such a rush, and signalled Alec <<after you>> and he showed Alec his locker.
As they were approaching Alec's locker, Magnus saw the one thing he was looking to avoid, Camille. She was walking by, she blew a kiss to Magnus and Magnus just rolled his eyes and looked away. He had missed her. He still does miss her. Her cold skin against his warmth gave him shivers and the way her eyes were so large, he could stare into them all day. He felt a tear arising into his eyes. Before anyone saw, Magnus wiped the tear away. Alec had a feeling of concern wash over him, "Hey, you okay?" he asked softly, placing his hand on Magnus' shoulder. Magnus looked at Alec again and gave him a crooked smile, "Yeah, I'll be fine." he said with a sigh at the end. Alec was skeptical about that, but it was not his place to say anything about it. The boys finally made it to Alec's locker, Alec smiled and said,"Thank you, Magnus." Magnus smiled back and made his way to class.
Alec had some trouble finding Mr. Garroway's class. 'Stupid school, doesn't even have a map.' Alec's school in Brooklyn had a map around every corner because of the gigantic size of the school. Getting to class there was also mission impossible. Not because the classes were confusing, there were just so many people. Forget Times Square on New Years Eve, try Brooklyn Academy at lunch time every Monday to Friday. Alec finally found the class and saw Magnus sitting in the back row, fidgeting with a pencil. He noticed that everyone had already arrived to class and that he was late. It was either a blessing a curse that the only seat open was the one next to Magnus. He made his way to the seat and sat down. Alec plopped his books on the desk and threw his backpack on the floor next to the leg of the desk.
Magnus was startled by the sudden sound of thunder on the desk. He was lost in his thoughts. He always fidgeted with a pen when he was thinking to himself. He thought about the times where he caught Camille cheating, when his father walked out on him, calling him an abomination for being bisexual, how much his mother had suffered for him and how she is finally happy, how he never got to find happiness and how he thought he had found his forever but she did not return the same feelings for him. Everything in his life was a mess. He had forgotten how to smile, until he met Alec. That was the first time he had smiled in two months. It felt as if everything could be okay, as if all was good and that everything happens for a reason.
Magnus was startled by the sudden sound of thunder on the desk. He was awoken from his daydream. Or more so, daymare. He looked next to him and he saw Alec. Alec was looking at the front, he was liking his legs and playing with his pen with his elbow and arm rested on the textbook. He looked bored. He had wondered why Alec had not said anything. "Hey again!" Magnus said cheerfully. Alec looked startled, it was adorable, really. The way his eyes grew larger and how his body fully reacted, how he moved himself a little backwards, and that face. Oh that face. His mouth was left open and Magnus just laughed. Alec closed his mouth and licked his lips, he looked worried. "H-hey, um there w-wasn't um another um s-spot to um s-sit, I c-could move if you w-want me to." Alec said, looking flushed. Alec rubbed the back of his neck and Magnus just laughed, "No such thing! You are fully allowed to sit wherever you want to. Also, I may warn you, you'll be my lab partner for the rest of the year and we'll have to do everything together for this class." Magnus said with a pout on his face. Alec looked down and smiled, "Thank you."
Mr. Garroway did not beat around the bush. He assigned an assignment right away. "By Friday, next week, you need to create an animal cell and create a presentation to explain it's functions to the class. That's for homework, and a group project with whomever you are sitting next to. For today, open up your notebooks and your textbooks to page 20, and take notes on the content and answer the questions on page 26 and 27 and we will take them up tomorrow." Alec was startled at the amount of instructions. As soon as Mr. Garroway was done, the entire class groaned and he did not see why Magnus liked this teacher so much.
In the middle of Alec's reading, Mr. Garroway pointed him out to the class, "Oh right, we have a new student! His name is Alexander Lightwood." Alec immediately hid and hoped no one would notice him, but all eyes were on him. He looked at Mr. Garroway and Mr. Garroway pointed at him, "You, with the hazel eyes and the raven hair, Alexander, come introduce yourself."
